Objective: The IT Assistant works closely with, and under the administrative direction of the Country Director and technical direction of Regional IT Support Specialist. This includes responsibility for support, purchasing and installation, and maintenance and improvement of CVT’s network infrastructure, laptop and desktop computers, software, printers, photocopiers, security cameras and LAN and WAN including operating phone systems. Other duties include responsibility for office network and systems security, providing technical support to office staff, streamlining staff use of technology, hardware/software troubleshooting.

- Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Serve as the primary contact for CVT staffs’ technical and training requests. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with systems, hardware/software faults, desktops, laptops, printers, phones, network, and peripheral equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment. Install various software/hardware. Provide (one-on-one) training and instruction to CVT staff as needed.
- Hardware/Software Installation, Monitoring and Maintenance: Install and configure computer systems, perform desktop/laptop OS and software installations.
- Network Operations / Productivity Tools /User support: Responsible for the physical network of computers, network software used to connect sites, workgroup software that allows access to network, and productivity tools, wireless network maintenance. Maintain the internal network including the operating phone system, add and delete users and manage user accounts. Anticipate, troubleshoot and resolve ongoing network issues/problems. Support email system including outlook set up, configuration, troubleshooting, and regular updates of users and passwords. Provide user support and training. Monitor and respond to ongoing user support issues, and document the response in a timely manner. Participate in collecting user requirements, research and propose solutions. Participate in development of upcoming modules for existing network and implement functional changes in network infrastructure as needs arise.
- Hardware Administration: Administer the proper operation of hardware. Execute installations and upgrades for hardware and network software. Provide research support and documentation for capital expense budgets.
- Security: Responsible for the security of the LAN and WAN. ensure security and operability of the network. Ensure that virus protection software is up to date, and periodically scan for viruses that may infect staff computers. Encryption of the laptops

B. Minimum Criteria:
- Associates degree in Computer Science or equivalent required, Bachelors in Computer Science desired
- At least one-year experience supporting software and hardware for end-users in a Windows-based domain environment including proficiency in the following areas:
- Installing and troubleshooting Windows OS, MS Office, Antivirus clients, Windows drivers, and BIOS updates.
- Troubleshooting hardware for servers, desktops, laptops, printers, photocopiers and other peripherals.
- IP networks, including installation and maintenance of firewalls and switches.
- Troubleshooting IP LAN/WAN issues.
- End-user technical support.
C. Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success working with security systems and virus detection software.
- Experience with a variety of technology tools and systems.
- Some experience using Windows-based server systems.
- Experience with Access and/or SQL database querying and reporting a plus.
- Experience supporting staff in a non-profit and/or healthcare environment a plus.
- Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and other responsibilities at the same time
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cross-culturally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Experience managing vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with or interest in human rights
- Ability to lift, carry and set-up desktop computers, monitors and other hardware around an office environment.
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
