IT & Logistics Assistant APDS (Re-opening) At World Wide Fund For Nature

I. Main functions :

In the Central African Republic, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is active in the Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas (APDS) complex. The APDS comprising the Dzanga-Ndoki National Park and surrounding buffer zones (including community hunting zones) comprise 4,450 km2 of rainforest area around the Sangha River in the south-western corner of the CAR. Together with the neighbouring national parks and buffer zones of Lobéké in Cameroon and Nouabale Ndoki in the Republic of Congo, it forms the Sangha Tri-National Complex (TNS) – a landscape that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.

WWF and its partners have been supporting the Central African Ministry of Water, Forests, Hunting and Fishing (MEFCP) in the management of APDS for over 30 years. The co-management partners’ main mission is to protect the precious biodiversity of APDS while promoting the sustainable use of its natural resources and improving the livelihoods of indigenous and local communities. This includes programs focused on community development and conservation, research, sustainable forestry, ecotourism and anti-poaching. Following an inclusive conversation approach, WWF strives to support indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) to manage their resources in a way that benefits them and nature.

I. Main functions

This role Provides essential technical support to the operational effectiveness of the APDS project and the coordination office in relation to the IT department.

II. Specific tasks and responsibilities

-COMPUTER SCIENCE

  1. Provide support to APDS users and staff
  • Configure/upgrade hardware and software
  • Provide day-to-day support to computer and network users through physical or remote assistance.
  • Installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software failures and resolving technical problems;
  • Respond to urgent support needs in Helpdesk and outside working hours;
  • Ensure the availability of computer systems (network systems, hardware and software systems) for all authorized personnel.
  • Organize regular field visits

2. Manage IT inventory

  • Maintain and update the computer inventory of the APDS main office and local offices.
  • Track and record inventory changes
  • Submit quarterly IT inventory reports

3. Ensure compliance with the data security strategy in place

  • Ensure regular backup of user data
  • Implement data upload to AoDocs Drive for security and collaboration.

4.Help implement the IT strategy

  • Ensure regular backups of user data
  • Assist in updating data in the existing electronic library system
  • Submit regular reports on the status of e-library data (quarterly) and user data (weekly).
  • Ensure that IT security rules are applied by staff
  • Train users on security and frequently used tools

5. In coordination with the national or regional office

  • Administer the systems of the entire ICT infrastructure of the Bayanga office in accordance with the directives of the national office or the Region;
  • Developing Bayanga’s IT service in relation to market requirements and standards in terms of technology, in terms of new configuration and NTIC policy.
  • Development of certain software projects and databases;
  • Assist the regionally based IT Manager in managing IT projects and new configurations and deployments at the Core office and in the field;
  • Assist the IT Manager and the Logistics Manager in developing the IT Section’s supply plan and certain technical aspects;
  • Ensure and monitor the applicability and compliance of WWF ICT policy to users;
  • Focal point on technical issues for WWF IT department – CCO overall;
  • And Other Related Tasks Not Specified for the CORE Office.

    – LOGISTICAL SUPPORT

  • Provide logistical support to the APDS Logistics Manager
  • Provide reception and support for visitors at the airport, for shopping in town.
  • Ensure the monitoring of visa files, customs clearance of imported materials and equipment, administrative files, under the supervision of the Supervisor
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor

1. Purchases

  • Dealing with suppliers and service providers
  • Search for proformas
  • Establish purchase orders according to WWF procedures
  • Check the conformity of the items with the invoices, delivery notes and purchase orders
  • Assist the Logistics Manager in monitoring and managing inventory
  • Assist the Logistics Manager in writing and monitoring monthly reports,
  • Apply WWF purchasing procedures

II Profile:

Required qualifications

  • A degree in computer science, network management and maintenance and other similar fields;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in logistics management and purchasing
  • Similar experience of at least 3 years working in the field of humanitarian aid, conservation, project development with practical experience in network management and IT maintenance.

Required skills and competencies

  • Ability to work in a multi-sector team;
  • Ability to draft and present monthly or other departmental reports;
  • Ability to write emails accurately and communicate with WWF agents;
  • Ability to travel on the ground;
  • Knowledge of spoken and written French and English;

Professional relationships :

Internals : Interacts frequently with the APDS Project Manager and his deputy, the Bayanga Logistics Officer, the Logistics Department Manager in Bangui and other project colleagues in Bayanga and Bangui.

External: Works closely with various partners. Maintains good relationships with various suppliers.
