IT Systems Administrator, International Programs at World Vision

The Job: World Vision is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to manage the operations of multiple secure computing platforms. This role will be responsible for ongoing system maintenance, governance, and support of enterprise systems, including monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, and standing up governance practices. Additionally, as the system’s main support contact, this role will be involved in one or more projects as a project team member as we carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. We are looking for candidates to personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign. Salesforce experience is highly recommended.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  1. Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  2. Participate in one or more projects as a project team member.
    • Provide input to technical requirements gathering efforts.
    • Document new or modified functions, modules and test activities/results according to specified
    • guidelines and on selected media.
    • Support and participate in the formal reporting of project status.
  3. Maintenance/Administration:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks for systems, such as backups, patch management and hot fixes on
    • non-critical systems.
    • Monitor health of systems and alert more senior administrators, when required.
    • Manage user access to systems, servers, and files.
    • Administer, install, configure and maintain system hardware and software components fixes on non-
    • critical systems
    • Maintain tracking and configuration documentation and plans.
    • Operate computer hardware systems and related peripheral equipment.
    • Adhere to all production control processes and maintains operating logs and documentation.
  4. Performance Monitoring:
    • Monitor system-operating capacity and performance of low to moderately complex or non-critical
    • systems.
    • Monitor hardware/software activities and resource utilization for capacity planning on low to moderately complex or non-critical systems.
    • Escalate when appropriate.
  5. Continuous Improvements:
    • Analyze and report on operational metrics to understand performance and to ensure success in process improvements.
  6. Production Support:
    • Provide Level 2 production support, assist Level 1 support staff as needed.
    • Troubleshoot problems by analyzing root causes and evaluating multiple options.
    • In case of failure events, notify users, and fix the problem or escalate to senior members.
    • Recommend procedures and controls for problem resolution or creates temporary solutions until permanent solutions can be implemented.
    • Document problem status and resolution.
  7. Security:
    • Maintain system security by checking logs for issues such as attempted intrusion.
    • Report security issues when appropriate.
    • Adhere to security requirements.
  8. Business Continuity:
    • Administer data and system backup activities, including creation, scheduling and monitoring of backup jobs.
    • Maintain and control tape inventory and manage the shipment and transporting of tapes.
    • Perform off-site storage procedures.
    • Verify that system backups run successfully.
  9. Policies/Procedures and Standards:
    • Adhere to policies, procedures and standards.
    • Monitor production, outputs, and services to ensure that SLAs, and other quality metrics, are being met.
    • Update KPI data repository.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
  11. Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements

You Bring These Skills:
Understanding of management information systems environments/platform architecture, data for business intelligence, participation in agile project management ceremonies, and familiarity with software development, governance concepts, system administration, and related technologies and processes.

Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in information systems or technical institute degree – or – 3 years of relevant information systems work experience required. Requires basic knowledge of system environments.

Additional Skills We Are Interested In:
Experience with Salesforce administration is a plus and preferred, but not required.
IT certifications are a plus.
