COOPI is looking for a First Emergency Operations Desk for its Milan office
The First Emergency Operations Desk operates on site, within COOPI’s international activities area. He is responsible for planning and implementing COOPI’s humanitarian response in the first phase of emergency interventions. It works in collaboration with the various support offices at the headquarters, to support regional coordination and country coordination in the constant analysis of the main humanitarian crises, in the areas and countries where COOPI is present. Can support, upon request of the International Activities Manager, the feasibility and implementation of new emergency interventions. Supports the headquarters and regional coordination in the preparation and provision of internal training on emergency management.
Main responsibilities and activities
Propose intervention priorities in emergency projects by managing relationships with the main international financiers:
- Evaluates, in consultation with the Head of International Activities, new interventions on specific themes or areas , verifying their feasibility also with the Donors;
- Evaluates, in consultation with the Head of International Activities, whether to intervene with emergency projects in the countries in which it is present, based on the funding opportunities available;
- Plans and implements activities , in the case of new interventions on specific themes or areas;
- Participate in workshops and meetings organized by the main financiers and other actors active in the emergency;
- Promotes meetings with the main financiers.
Support the Country Coordinations in the implementation of the programs, having the responsibility of activating the relevant Coopi structures:
- Responds to different operational needs on emergency projects;
- Organizes specific training activities for the management of emergency projects;
- Performs monitoring and assistance missions for the correct and harmonious development of the most complex humanitarian projects;
- Provides support to foreign offices on specific initiatives in Emergency projects, upon indication of the International Activities Manager;
- It favors the transition of control to the geographical area of reference of the project, once the start-up phase has been consolidated.
Intervenes on specific initiatives and upon indication of the Management, in the direct management of projects.
Profile wanted
Essential requirements
- University / Post-University training, preferably in the field relating to International Cooperation;
- Overall previous work experience of at least 5 years, in complex structures ;
- Previous experience abroad in the field of humanitarian interventions;
- Availability to carry out missions abroad for 30% of the time;
- Excellent knowledge of French and English;
- Excellent ability to prioritize and organize work in compliance with pressing deadlines;
- Excellent ability to change priorities and review emergencies;
- Communication and relational skills with various internal and external interlocutors;
- Flexibility, listening and confidentiality;
- Stress resistance, rapid response ability;
- Interest and aptitude for working in an international environment;
- Excellent knowledge of the Office package;
- Respect for the values of the Organization;
Desirable requirements
- Knowledge of Spanish;
- Previous experience with COOPI abroad.
