Junior part-time Financial Assistant at Institute for Integrated Transitions

Headquartered in Barcelona, the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to helping fragile and conflict-affected states achieve more sustainable negotiations and transitions out of war or authoritarianism. IFIT’s core work is to serve as an expert resource on integrated policy solutions for locally-led efforts to break cycles of conflict or repression.

IFIT is currently seeking a junior part-time Financial Assistant.

Role: Reporting to the Financial Manager and working under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, the position is focused on supporting the organisation’s financial administration and accounting tasks and thus contributing to the sound financial management of IFIT.

Work schedule: Part-time (20 hours a week)

Starting date: Immediately

Duration: Indefinite

Probatory Period: 2 months

Gross salary: 10.200 EUR annually divided into 12 equal monthly payments of 850 EUR.

Location: Barcelona, minimum 50% office presence required

Responsibilities include:

• Support the financial administration of the organisation by compiling and processing accurate financial and accounting information.

• Assist the Financial Manager by ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions in IFIT’s accounting system (managed by an external company) in line with IFIT’s financial and accounting policies.

• Liaise with IFIT’s financial service providers (banks, external accountants, auditors, etc.).

• Maintain and regularly update internal tools for financial management (income forecast, expenditure reports, among others).

• Process payments, reconcile bank statements, and track bank deposits and payments.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and financial statements under the guidance of the Financial Manager.

• Assist in the annual audit process and other project audits.

• Support fundraising activities with the preparation of project budgets and financial reports for donors.

Desired qualifications:

• Bachelor’s level university degree or equivalent

• Training in accounting and finance

• 1+ year/s of financial experience, preferably in the non-profit sector

• Solid computer literacy, including MS Excel and accounting programs

• Strong command of English and Spanish

• Strong analytical and financial management skills

• Accuracy and high attention to details

• Results and solution-oriented
