About the project:

The UK PACT project titled ‘Enhancing Sustainable Urban Mobility of Coastal Metropolitan Cities Towards Safer, Inclusive, Resilient, and Ambitious Low-Carbon Development Pathways’ aims to address the twin challenges of post-Covid-19 recovery and climate change mitigation action by supporting Makassar and Surabaya in increasing their ambition to improve and implement the targets and scope of their sustainable urban mobility strategy to be more inclusive, resilient, and safe with lower carbon emissions. It is part of the Future Cities –Low-Carbon Transport Portfolio of UK-PACT in Indonesia.

Job Purpose

The Junior Program Coordinator is responsible for the management of the project in Makassar and/or Surabaya, including managing key stakeholder relationships, facilitating and coordinating technical assistance, providing project management support, maintaining regular communications, monitoring, and reporting on progress for the city along with providing support to the Project Lead towards overall national outputs across Indonesia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with Makassar and/or Surabaya city government focal points to realize the successful implementation of the cities’ chosen intervention
  2. Support the city to create and execute strategies for successful program implementation and ongoing stakeholder engagement
  3. Coordinate and facilitate local stakeholder meetings
  4. Regularly review, compile, and disseminate information obtained via stakeholder engagement into documents and reports that are coherent and readily accessible
  5. Manage project activities in the city responsible along with any other local consultant/s as needed.
  6. Develop, jointly with city officials relevant project goals, budgets, timelines, and milestones
  7. Monitor their city’s progress toward milestones and objectives, and compile data and narrative accounts of accomplishments to report to the Project lead.
  8. Submit monthly financial and program management report as updates.
  9. Consult with Project Lead, stakeholder groups to align vision, strategy, and resources around projects and programs developed during the collaborative process
  10. Lead stakeholder meetings and deliver presentations, as needed in the responsible city.
  11. Manage city level workshops
  12. Help gather information for potential publicity opportunities and support communications teams to highlight those in the city.
  13. Respond to information and assistance requests from management and the donor
  14. Identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks and delays
  15. Undertake any other related duties as assigned by the Project Lead.

Qualifications

Education and degree

  • Graduate degree in public health, public policy, public administration, or a relevant field of study, or equivalent experience/education
  • Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
  • Ability to navigate various interests and a operate in a dynamic and complex political environment
  • Ability to balance the drive for action with an inclusive process
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with persons of varied backgrounds
  • The ability to apply a race and gender analysis to all produced work and proposed interventions Self-starter with the capacity to work collaboratively with offsite managers and effectively communicate tasks and critical project updates

Experience required:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience and progressive responsibility, or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in community organizing with expertise in facilitating, building, or leading community collaboration projects
  • Experience with program and strategic planning
