In People in Need, we believe that people everywhere in the world should have the right to make decisions about their lives and to share the rights expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
PIN is one of the key organizations from the Central European region supporting human rights defenders and independent media within our Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (HRD). The HRD’s primary goal is to support independent individuals and groups in repressive and fragile environments who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation.
As one of our team members aptly put it: “We strive to be the organization our local partners can rely on in times of need. Building trust-based relationships, developing a deep understanding of context, and being able to provide much-needed support swiftly and flexibly is what motivates us every day.”
