Job Summary

CRS’ Institutional Donor Engagement and Advancement (IDEA) department advances the agency’s strategic position by engaging new and existing institutional donors to acquire and steward resources that deliver excellent programs to advance CRS’ and (Vision 2030). Teams within IDEA focus on three main functional areas: engaging donors, prospects, and strategic partners; delivering on outcomes as outlined in the institutional award agreements, in co mpliance with donor requirements; and acquisition of new resource through business development activities.

The Officer II, Knowledge Management and Learning for Business Development (Officer II, BD KML) will be an integral member of IDEA’s Business Development (BD) team and CRS’ broader global BD Community of Practice (CoP). The Officer II, BD KML will focus on knowledge management and learning in support of the Business Development (BD) function. Specifically, s/he will lead several ongoing initiatives including, but not limited to coordinating key BD improvement projects and resource updates, governance of existing BD resources, planning of learning events, BD data analysis and reporting, and management of relevant dashboards, SharePoint pages and Teams sites. This position will also contribute to the strategic development of the KML function at CRS, liaising closely with other KML practitioners across the agency through the KML CoP.

The successful ca ndidate will have familiarity with the business development (BD) function and a demonstrated ability to leverage KML approaches and technology to address systemic challenges. S/he will work collaboratively across teams to strengthen CRS’ competitive position through improved BD systems, processes, and resources, and capacity and use of data and information.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the process manager and learning content owner of key BD tools and resources, including the BD Playbook, Technical Application Guidance, Cost Application Guidance, BD 101 modules, BD Catalog of Resources, and BD Gateway Protocols. Develop an approach to ongoing governance and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and update content.
  • Maintain a database of key BD tools and resources and assigned BD subject matter expert (SME) owners. Liaise closely with assigned BD SME owners to communicate schedules for tool and resource updates/development and provide instructions on inputs needed.
  • Plan and coordinate BD CoP activities and learning events, including the monthly Connect and Reflect sessions and support annual global Business Development Summits with department Coordinator. Includes leading collaborative agenda and session development and overseeing post event evaluation and follow up.
  • With BD leaders, initiate identification and dissemination of BD best practices and improvement initiative ideas in collaboration with the BD CoP.
  • Lead the development and management of key learning platforms, such as the IDEA and BD MyCRS (SharePoint) and Microsoft Teams sites. Serve as BD functional lead for key KML platforms, including PowerBi.
  • In collaboration with the BD Leadership Team and BD Director, develop a charter for and encourage participation in the BD CoP. Serve as moderator for the Teams site and other communications, ensuring timely responses to inquiries. Manage the inbox and BD email lists.
  • Maintain BD onboarding guidance and contribute to further development of the BD Capabilities model and related learning pathways. Proactively identify learning resources and develop BD learning playlists.
  • Lead development of the monthly Resource Acquisition Report, annual State of BD Report and/or semi-annual resource updates, and other communications as needed.
  • Develop, coordinate, and review reports and presentations for CRS’ Board and Executive Leadership as well as external stakeholders and donors.
  • Conceptualize and execute research and quantitative and qualitative analysis related to BD performance to inform departmental and agency strategy.
  • Manage CRS memberships to relevant platforms such as Devex, Miro, and GovTribe.
  • Manage TDYs and/or consultancies related to business development KML, including SOW development, submission of requisitions and invoices, and general oversight.
  • Participate actively in the BD and KML communities of practice.
  • Serve as a KML resource for regions and country programs seeking strategies and best practices on their BD KML needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum five years of relevant professional experience. Experience in a developing country a plus.

Required Languages – Fluent English; proficiency in French and/or Spanish a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the business development and knowledge management and learning functions. Prior BD and/or KML experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing processes and leading teams to produce deliverables under tight deadlines and at exceptional quality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to conceptualize, edit and format documents, presentations, videos, Sharepoint sites, and other products.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, and Oracle Cloud (preferred). Experience with use of other technologies for use to support KML, such as PowerBI, Miro, Powtoon a plus. Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies; interest and experience in using technology and new platforms to improve work efficiency.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive and committed to excellence, with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CRS programs, justice agenda and Catholic Social Teaching principles a plus.
