Chemonics seeks a Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist for the USAID Lishe Mtambuka (Crosscutting Nutrition) project. The five-year project aims to strengthen health and food market systems that promote the adoption of optimal nutrition-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions in Tanzania. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing the project knowledge and communications strategy, ensuring production of quality knowledge and communications products that, include, visibility activities, factsheets, documentary and marketing/social media, blogs, and providing editorial/copy editing assistance and quality control assistance to the publication of all project reporting and communications
- Working closely with MEL and technical team members to identify data gaps, human-centered stories, summary of evaluation/research findings, develop infographics, factsheets, social media products, and articles for communications materials
- Review and summary relevant activity data, evaluation and research findings from partners to provide evidence on Lishe Mtambuka work in progress reports, power point presentations, abstracts etc.
- Strategically plan and organize innovative methods to disseminating the project’s accomplishments. This may include written, video, or internet methodologies
- Review, update and implement Lishe Mtambuka knowledge management and communication plan
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in development communication, knowledge management, international development, development studies, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of six years of experience in a similar role, writing reports or technical briefs, policy briefs and the development of knowledge management and communication strategies for donor-funded projects; experience with USAID preferred
- Experience in a similar role for a nutrition focused project or organization preferred.
- Proven ability to organize, summarize, and rewrite technical information for non-expert audiences
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with demonstrated diplomacy and the ability to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment
- Proven experience using one of the infographic tools as well as skills in photography
- Basic skills in using data analysis using a qualitative and quantitative software is an added advantage
- Basic skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Knowledge of Tanzania is preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English, Swahili speaking is an added advantage
