UNOPS Guatemala is looking for a Lead Biomedical Engineer.

The Biomedical Engineering Manager will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with the teams of specialists of the assigned project, and will carry out all the activities that are required in the project, particularly those aimed at specifying, specify and specify the hospital medical and non-medical equipment of the hospitals required by the Associate, according to the following activities and stages:
Preparation phase of technical inputs:
- Analysis of associate needs; which include on-site verifications to ensure that the health technologies (equipment, furniture and medical vehicles) to be acquired are adequate, sufficient and adapt to the infrastructure conditions (hydrosanitary, electrical, structural and other services for their operation) within the environments where they will stay.
- Advise the project manager on scope, general technical/substantive requirements based on the needs of partners and beneficiaries, as well as national and international certification requirements and standards for associated equipment, services and works, including relevant best practices .
Support Phase in carrying out the tenders:
- Contributions to configure the annual procurement plan for hospital medical equipment, medical vehicles and hospital infrastructure.
- Support the assembly of bidding bases, predominantly in relation to the technical specifications and other documents that appear in them.
Support phase in the administration of medical equipment contracts (equipment, furniture and vehicles):
- Monitor, coordinate and participate in the implementation of delivery plans with the support of technicians and specialists.
- Coordinate with technicians and specialists the delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and training, as part of the operation of the equipment, providing engineering support in a professional, technical, efficient, coherent and high quality manner in all areas. activities related to research, start-up and installation of medical equipment.
Personnel management:
- The consultant must, according to the needs of the project and the instructions of his/her supervisor, lead the activities of the biomedical specialists and technicians assigned to the project, for the acquisition and verification of medical equipment.
- The scope of personnel coordination will be defined by the Project Manager and may include: preparation of work plans, assignment of tasks prior approval of the manager, monitoring of execution, writing of monitoring reports and other activities. approved by management.
Additional support to local and regional office:
- For the proper performance of his functions, the consultant must coordinate his activities and form teams with other components, such as infrastructure, procurement and the administrative component at the local and regional level when required.
- Likewise, it must coordinate with the associate’s personnel, linked to other projects and sectors of influence that result from its operational activities.

Requirements:
Education
- A master’s degree is required, preferably in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- The Master’s degree may be replaced by a degree at the bachelor’s level (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) and a minimum of two additional years of relevant experience.
- Desirable studies in Hospital Management.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required (or more depending on the academic qualifications presented) in the implementation of medical equipment projects in hospital projects, including proven experience in:
- Projects for the implementation and start-up of equipment in highly complex hospitals, hospital infrastructure and the acquisition of medical vehicles.
- Team coordination.
- Definition of technical equipment specifications.
- Definition of medical equipment needs for health structures with beds.
Will Be Valued:
- Have Project Management Certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE 2 Practitioner PRINCE 2 Foundation)
- Experience in work and/or advice for government and official organizations, international cooperation organizations, multinationals, multilateral banking and/or the United Nations System.
- I work in Latin American countries, prioritizing the Central American region.
- Integration of multidisciplinary work teams.
Languages
- Proficiency in the Spanish language is required.
- Intermediate knowledge of the English language is desirable.
