About the position
We are looking for proactive and organized individuals, committed to producing quality, objective research and analysis, to join our team to conduct field research for projects on a variety of humanitarian and development issues.
This role is based in Benin.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Identification of research respondents
- Training and management of field investigators
- Supervision and organization of data collection processes, including implementation of surveys, facilitation of focus group discussions and conducting interviews with key informants
- Data compilation and translation
- Coordination with principal investigators and clients
Candidate profile
Qualifications and experience:
- Master’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies or a related discipline
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: gender, youth, displacement and migration, food security, climate change, livelihoods, education, sanitation, health and monitoring and evaluation (M&E)
- At least 5 years of experience in research within an academic institution, a development consulting firm, an international organization or an NGO
- Research experience in fragile and conflict-affected environments is desirable.
- Proficiency in English and local languages

- Research skills: advanced analytical ability, ability to synthesize information to make it relevant and contextual, excellent report writing skills and ability to write in a clear and accessible manner
- Detail Orientation: Commitment to high quality deliverables and meticulous reporting
- Initiative and flexibility: ability to work independently, showing initiative to achieve goals, while having the flexibility to adapt and respond to different demands necessary to accomplish assigned tasks
- Teamwork: openness to ideas and contributions from other team members, ability to work collaboratively, excellent listening and interpersonal skills
- Organization: systematic approach to work, ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time effectively, meeting deadlines under pressure
- Integrity: Strong sense of research and professional ethics, conscientiousness in approach to work and commitment to Bodhi’s research standards
- Communication: ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) confidently in English and to adapt to different audiences and cultural contexts
