Mercy Hands is currently active in the following humanitarian sectors: livelihood, food security, logistics, WASH, population monitoring and assessments, protection, education, health and community development. Currently we are implementing a few programs that are either all livelihood or have a component of livelihood. These programs are managed by program managers. Mercy Hands is looking for a Livelihood Coordinator who will lead, mentor, and supervise all those managers.

Job Location and Duration

Mercy Hands Headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, with up to 25% field work

1 year, renewable.

Employment Type

Full time, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Starting salary is $2000 per month, with potential increase to $3000, depending on funds availability.

For expats, there will be the following fringe:

  • Residence, including utilities and internet;
  • Driver after working hours and during holidays and weekends;
  • Phone cards;
  • Gym membership;
  • Mercy Hands will provide comprehensive health insurance through Dhamani (www.dhamani-iq.com));
  • Reimbursement of the airfare ticket when arriving to the country and airfare ticket when departing the country at the end of the contract;
  • Mercy Hands will provide an Arabic tutor;
  • Mercy Hands will cover the airfare ticket of 1 weekend per month to Erbil (forfeit if unused);
  • 30 days annual leave; plus sick and maternity leaves;
  • Mercy Hands will be responsible for obtaining and renewing the visa/ residency and all related expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Mercy Hands’ livelihood programs and activities;
  • Review Livelihood Program Managers’ (PMs) reports and emails before PMs submit them to donors;
  • Mentor and build the capacity of livelihood PMs;
  • Develop livelihood programming tools and standard operating procedures;
  • Either in person or through Livelihood PMs, ensure the active participation of Mercy Hands in all livelihood clusters, sub-clusters, and working groups;
  • Design and implement the strategic framework for livelihood interventions in Iraq;
  • Write proposals and review proposals written by livelihood PMs;
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director, Line Manager, and other directors and head of departments for efficient allocation of resources within the livelihood programs;
  • Build rapport and network with potential livelihood partners and donors in Iraq;
  • Lead Mercy Hands’ livelihood research and assessments.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in livelihood programs;
  • Project management experience;
  • Proposal writing and budget design skills;
  • Excellent reporting skills;
  • Excellent English language skills;
  • College degree;
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook);
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
