Position: Livelihoods Pillar Manager

Reporting to: Head of Programs

Overseeing: Area Program Coordinators and Program Officers.

Objective of Position

This position will ensure that all Feed the Children key Livelihood activities are focused on improving financial management at household level, improving community participation, partnership and support and increase food diversity at the community so that household will be self-reliant, financially stable and food secure to support the community. The position will be responsible for developing and improving opportunities for households to establish appropriate sustainable livelihoods through community-based approaches.

The position will be responsible for developing and improving opportunities for households to establish appropriate sustainable livelihoods through community-based approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

Project management

· Lead livelihood projects design, planning and integration into Child Focused Community Development (CFCD) model in program areas and provide strategic direction for the pillar with bias to self-capitalization (VSLA) and resilience (CMDRR) approaches.

· Responsible for overall implementation of livelihood activities in CFCD target areas and ensure outputs and outcomes met within budget, set timeframe and stipulated quality standards.

· Responsible for training and offering technical support to program staff beneficiaries and partners to achieve set outcomes.

· Collaborate with local stakeholders and undertake detailed analysis to design appropriate interventions to support access to capital and encourage of livelihood diversification and strengthen local economic activities and community resilience.

· Assess team capabilities, by recommending and facilitating trainings based on need and program goals and maintain data base for those trained.

· Ensure to align projects /activities to sector policies and plans by integrating best practices and ensuring continuous knowledge and learning including documentation.

· Manage the learning and adoption of sector best practices and approaches that have evidence-based record of effectiveness and propose new innovative approaches that achieve set objectives.

· Periodically review project implementation strategies and adapt new approaches as needed to alleviate shocks and stresses.

· Ensure that internal and external reporting and documentation are accurate and done on time

· Ensure that FEED is well represented in regular national/county /subcounty forums

· Research and propose future projects/donors for consideration and relevant strategic partnerships.

Fundraising, Financial& Budget Management

· Research and propose future projects /donors for consideration by the project.

· Pursue fundraising activities for livelihood projects within the program and prepare proposal submissions including budgets for funding.

· Develop, manage and truck overall pillar budgets in fulfilment of specified outputs and objectives.

· Monitor project expenditure and assist in preparing and analyzing project financials

Reports.

Team management

· Provide team leadership and develop Program officer potentials.

· Ensure regular training and awareness of the team in areas of secure and safe working environment.

· Handle team professional dynamics and promote cohesiveness in lie with FEED core values.

· Responsible for team performance management

Minimum requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Development Studies or related discipline (Masters preferred).

· Hands on experience in designing and implementing livelihood development projects.

· A minimum of 5yrs work experience in community-based and participatory activities.

· Experience in capacity building and self-capitalization and resilience approach such as VSLA and CMDRR.

· Experience using participatory adult learning methodologies.

· Excellent analytical and computer skills (Microsoft office and SPSS).

· Project management and communication skills

· Knowledge and understanding of child protection policies.
