KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Livelihoods Specialist will lead on the vocational training of 600 participants and support their access to employment. Responsibilities will include:
- Lead on the conduction of business engagement surveys in each of the target locations in order to engage employers and the private sector.
- Creating and/or tailoring a series of vocational training curricula for 40-day vocational training for 600 beneficiaries, designed to address the skills gaps and market needs identified by the abovementioned assessment.
- Train and oversee a team of 12 Vocational Trainers that will deliver vocational skills training in 4 different locations.
- Travel between project implementation locations in Anbar (Qaim & Habaniyah), Salah al Din (Tooz Khormato) and Ninewa (Muhalabiyah) ensuring smooth delivery of training.
- Visit and develop a rapport with businesses who expressed their interest in the job placement scheme during the above mentioned survey.
- Organise jobs fairs in each of the target locations whereby potential employers can meet course participants jointly with the Project Manager.
- Where the jobs fairs are unable to match participants with employers, handle participants on a bespoke, case-by-case basis to arrange their work placements.
- Provide follow up and reporting on progress.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- University educated in a relevant field, preferably business administration, social work,economics, social sciences, development studies or other related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in livelihoods projects, involving youth and women, such as in cash for work, vocational training, and business support.
- Certificate in ToT (Training of Trainers).
- Proven experience in implementing projects related to skills development / vocational training.
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic.
- Right to live and work in Iraq, with the ability to travel within and outside KRI region.
- Willing to start work immediately.
