Livestock/Veterinary Specialist At Afghanaid

Responsibilities are divided into two main categories: Directly responsible and Indirectly responsible. Direct responsibility include activities where the Livestock/Veterinary specialist is directly responsible for delivering. Indirect responsibility includes activities where a partner level staff is responsible for delivering, but the Livestock/Veterinary specialist is responsible for ensuring implementation by providing technical support and/or monitoring implementation.

Output: National and international policy makers and sub-national government have improved knowledge of eco-DRR and CRSA.

· Build awareness among national and global policy makers and practitioners through participation in meetings, workshops and other fora at the national levels (Directly responsible)

· Develop factsheets, articles, policy briefs, presentations and films based on data, analysis, lessons learned, and best practice (Directly responsible)

· Film screening/presentations to raise awareness of Eco-DRR and CRSA among provincial government staff (Directly responsible)

· Training workshops and exposure visits for district ANDMA, DAIL and NEPA staff to build capacity in Eco-DRR and CRSA service delivery (Indirectly reposible)

· Provincial and district government staff accompany ARC staff for activity implementation as ‘on the job training (Indirectly reposible)

Output: Men and women gain improved skills, resources, access to irrigation, and access to services for climate resilient sustainable agriculture and livestock.

· Assessment to select main climate resilient livestock products (Directly responsible)

· Participatory appraisals to identify political and technical challenges relating to livestock based livelihoods (Directly responsible)

· Development of manuals and training materials (Directly responsible)

· Training of trainers for project team (Directly responsible)

· Support men and women to form producer groups (Indirectly reposible)

· Distribution of livestock inputs to men and women (Indirectly reposible)

· Training for men and women in climate resilient sustainable livestock production, followed by continuous support (Indirectly reposible)

· Capacity building and equipment for para-vets (Directly responsible)

· VFUs and ARC jointly deliver animal health trainings in target communities (Indirectly reposible)

· Establishment of community fodder banks (Indirectly reposible)
