Logistics Adviser, Damascus Syria At Norwegian Refugee Council

What we are looking for

NRC Syria is looking for a Logistics Adviser to join the mission. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing all procurement and operational procedures according to NRC standards and to support the program/project implementation.

**This role is open to Syrian Nationals only**

What You Will Do

  • Ensure that country standard procurement systems are established and maintained in line with NRC Logistics Handbook, donor, and local legislation requirements.
  • Provide strong leadership to the procurement team in all offices whether with a direct line management or technical, ensuring competent and motivated staff are trained and retained.
  • Implement NRC’s procurement systems and procedures at country and area level.
  • Coordinate timely operational planning and management of procurement activities.
  • Ensure that all requisitions are processed in a timely and efficient manner, and that all supporting documentation is filed as per SSD requirements.
  • Provide anti-corruption, transparency, and cost efficiency focus in all procurement processes.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working in a managerial role as logistics staff in a humanitarian/recovery context or private sector.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Result oriented, proactive in taking initiatives and passionate about the job.
  • Experience of logistics systems and structures development.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic, written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the Middle East context would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Syrian context, sanction programme and market is required.

What We Offer

  • Damascus, Syria duty station.
  • Travel: Approximately 30% within areas of operation within Syria
  • Contract Duration: 12 months- renewable subject to performance and funding
  • Senior Grade8 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
