The context

Emergency interventions in the face of crises, conflicts and natural disasters are one of the priority areas of intervention for Médecins du Monde. Our financial independence, the strength of our partnerships, the involvement and flexibility of our teams are all key elements in providing an effective response to these disasters.

In MdM’s current strategic plan, emergencies and crises are listed as a priority theme under axis 1: promoting health through access to care and the evolution of the law. Housed within the international operations department, the emergency unit is an operational service implementing the association’s emergency programs, in acute contexts of armed conflict, in response to epidemics or following natural disasters. It is made up of an integrated team and a team of field voltigeur coordinators, it has a medical and non-medical buffer stock and benefits from specific decision-making circuits promoting responsiveness.

The post

You are part of the emergency unit’s voltigeur team that is deployed in emergency contexts to launch new interventions. The emergency unit is also called upon to participate in exploratory missions, to support existing MdM operations through “gap-filling” or to support the implementation of specific activities. When you are at headquarters (20% of the time) you are under the responsibility of the head of the emergency unit and when you are deployed in the field (80% of the time), you report directly to the general coordinator of the mission. In addition, you have a functional link with the logistics referent at headquarters. The duration of a deployment in the field is 3 months maximum and is followed by a recovery period.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Define, plan and implement all technical supply and logistics activities for a mission
  • Ensure the adequacy of the resources provided with the needs, the budget, compliance with MdM standards, protocols and procedures in order to facilitate the establishment of the mission and projects
  • Lead and manage a team by strengthening cohesion and motivation
  • Support cross-functional files at headquarters in collaboration with the headquarters logistics department

Profile sought

  • Higher education bac+2 type purchasing, logistics
  • 5 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in a logistics coordination position or at least 2 years as a logistician and in the humanitarian sector
  • Mastery of the office pack
  • Fluency in French and English (written and oral) required
  • You adhere to the values ​​and activist positioning of Médecins du Monde

Conditions of employment

  • Fixed-term contract (CDD)
  • Position to be filled as soon as possible and until 09/15/2025 – deployment in the field not before 1 month of integration (face-to-face headquarters/telework according to our telework agreement)
  • Position based 80% in the field and 20% at headquarters
  • Gross monthly salary of 3,306 euros
  • Full-time position
  • 13th month from 6 months of seniority and paid in 2 installments
  • Field travel bonus of 198.18 gross/month in proportion to the time spent in the field
  • At headquarters, meal vouchers with a unit value of €9 (contribution of 60% from MdM, 40% from the employee) and in the field via a fixed meal allowance set according to the country
  • At headquarters, 50% reimbursement of public transport tickets (Navigo subscription for Parisians) and 100% support from headquarters to the field
  • Accommodation covered 100% on the ground and at headquarters if required in the event of a briefing/debriefing (2 nights max)
  • Mutual: 60% participation by MdM and 40% by the employee
  • Holidays: 22.5 RTT/year and 5 weeks of paid leave/year
  • Teleworking agreement subject to eligibility of your position: 110 days of teleworking per year (i.e. an average of 2.5 days of teleworking per week) with the obligation to work in person at least 5 days per month
