Lifting Hands International is looking for a Logistics & Facilities Manager to start in February 2023 in Greece with a minimum six-month commitment.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psychosocial support programs.
Role Profile
The duties of this role fall mainly into the Logistics as well as Facility management category, with additional emphasis on the implementation of Community Engagement through construction projects and workshops (ranging from Carpentry, Gardening to Bicycle Repair) and maintenance shifts around the Community Center. The role involves assistance of our Aid Distribution program in Warehouse & Distributions when needed.
Logistics, Maintenance & Community Engagement (Primary Role):
- Maintenance of LHI vehicles, staff apartments and the community center
- Oversee improvements and additions to the LHI community center
- Coordinate repair or maintenance through contractors as required
- Supervise the garden project at the community center
- Organize and manage regular shifts of volunteers to help with logistical issues (clean-ups, repairs, painting, etc.)
- Organize and oversee construction projects and workshops with Community Volunteers and Community Members in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Logistics & Distributions regarding the logistical needs and priorities of the LHI Greece program
- Collaborate with the Director of Logistics & Distributions to maintain oversight of finances
Warehouse and Distributions (Support of Aid Distribution Manager when required):
- Help manage the warehouse and stock using Boxtribute software
- Help supervise a team of visiting & community volunteers who facilitate distributions in the camp
- Help plan and manage distributions, including food, clothing, hygiene and diapers
- Help develop the distribution program in line with organizational strategy
- Help supervise international volunteers during regular warehouse shifts
Essential Criteria:
- Proactive: Able to work well independently and without constant supervision
- Previous humanitarian experience, particularly in a Logistics, Maintenance and/or Distribution role
- International drivers license
- Previous experience of people management
- Professional attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
- Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
- Minimum six month commitment
- Fluent English speaker
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French
- Understanding of key aid distribution principles
- Maintenance or construction skills
- Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months
