POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Vice President of People & Culture, you will act as the first point of contact on helping to resolve Human Resources, People & Culture (HRPC) issues for international staff members. You will also be responsible for providing high level human resources, compliance guidance and training to HR staff members in country offices. You will help to develop and build out the organizational plan for distributing People & Culture support to our regional program teams through a new distributed services model. In addition, you may perform other HR manager duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:

  • Manage employee relations or personnel issues for international staff members.
  • Coordinate country office operations teams to support the opening and closing processes for country offices.
  • Liaise with Enterprise Risk Management and Country Operations team on various operational issues, including HRPC aspects of country office registration and supporting emergency management teams issues with international staff members.
  • Provide training to new country based HRPC staff members on company policies, procedures as well as on using HRIS system and other tools.
  • Serve as point of contact and initial escalation point for questions about policy, procedure, and requirements for country-based HR representatives in each office.
  • Manage the transition of staff in country offices between HQ-issued and country-office issued employment agreements or contracts.
  • Support HRPC processes for Internews International, the French subsidiary of Internews Europe.
  • Manage relationships with Professional Employer Organization (PEO) providers around the globe and coordinate with internal stakeholders on implementation of PEO agreements.
  • Conduct internal ethics investigations, as requested
  • Partner with other HRPC team members to roll out programs, trainings, processes, and policies to country office staff, including Belonging, Dignity, and Justice and ethics programs.
  • Support onboarding and training of key corporate staff within the region as needed
  • Partner with regional and country based HRPC team members to develop policies, standards, templates and programs for country office HR teams to manage and implement.
  • Review the HR template documents being used in each office to ensure compliance and standardization, including employment agreements, contract agreements, staff policies and handbooks
  • Provide ERP support to field offices, including new employee training, continued learning, and troubleshooting.
  • Provides support for country office audits as requested.
  • Develops and maintains contact list for country based legal counsel in each office Together with HR representatives, consults legal counsel to establish country specific labor requirements, including but not limited to establishing compliant labor agreements, paid time off requirements, severance and termination requirements, and statutory and voluntary benefit requirements as needed.
  • Coordinates the development and completion of quarterly compliance and risk assessment reports for each office for delivery to HQ HR

PERSON SPECIFICATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 5-7 years of experience working in Human Resources with international audiences
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Prior experience with databases, preferably an ERP, ATS or HRIS systems
  • Experience working in the international non-profit sector, preferred
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • GSPHR, CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent international HR certification
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed
  • Solid analytical skills and process mindset, including the proven ability to drive process improvements.
  • Fluency in English, required. Fluency in French, Spanish, Russian, Thai, or other languages preferred
  • Ability to take direction then work independently with remote supervision and complete tasks on time
  • Strong writing and grammar skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Windows environment including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer
