Manager, Knowledge Management and Mobilisation At Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) are now recruiting for a dynamic Knowledge Management and Mobilisation Manager to join our Knowledge Leadership function. The Manager will lead the implementation of a knowledge management and mobilisation strategy to enhance the sharing of evidence and learning from GAIN’s programmes, and to increase its quality and timeliness for decision making.

This is a permanent role and is open to applicants based in London, UK, Delhi, India or Washington D.C., US.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

The overall purpose of this position is to lead the implementation of a knowledge management and mobilisation strategy, developing the systems, tools and processes to enhance the sharing of evidence, knowledge, and learning from GAIN’s programmes, and to increase its quality, timeliness, and translation for decision making.

The Manager will be directly involved in the consolidation, translation, and dissemination of research, evaluation, and other learning outputs and will engage actively with stakeholders to facilitate its uptake and utilisation to foster more and better evidence utilisation. Under supervision of the Director Knowledge Leadership (KL) and working closely with the Development Office and Communications team, the Manager will support GAINs activities in knowledge management and mobilisation.

Specific Responsibilities include;

  • Identifying and consolidating evidence related to the potential of public-private engagement to advance nutrition, including media and outreach (including social media)
  • Working with Knowledge Leadership, programme and country staff to develop and/or review knowledge products directed to diverse audiences based on GAIN programmes, research and evaluations
  • Working closely with Communications, Knowledge Leadership and all teams at GAIN to ensure knowledge management good practice for the storage and retrieval of GAIN knowledge products
  • Working with GAIN IT and external Web developers (as needed) to update and improve Nutrition Connect platform functionality, and implement periodic reviews to inform such needed changes
  • With the support from junior staff and/or interns, conducting reviews of actions in the public-private space for study, synthesis, case-studies, briefs, blogs and other types of documents for dissemination on Nutrition Connect
  • Identifying and leading activities to enhance the relevance, uptake, and utilisation of evidence about public-private engagement for nutrition and generate interest and use of Nutrition Connect through webinars, presentations and similar activities
  • Participating actively in project teams within GAIN to develop learning agendas related to those projects and to inform program improvement based on such learning

About You

Applicants must be extensively experienced in evidence review, synthesis, translation, and the preparation of dissemination documents/presentations for policy or non-technical audiences. They should have excellent communication and presentation skills for working with multiple audiences and should be able to effectively work and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders from multiple disciplinaries. Experience writing proposals/fundraising would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the opportunities and challenges that come with working with the private sector in nutrition.

In addition, you should possess at minimum Master’s level training in a relevant field (nutrition, public health, food systems, agriculture etc.) or equivalent work experience. Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential, and additional fluency in a second language in one of the advertised countries would be highly advantageous.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is as follows:

For applicants in India, INR 1,578,330 – 1,805,954 per annum, dependent on experience

For applicants in the United States, $85,987 – $92,129 per annum, dependent on experience

For applicants in the United Kingdom, £45,285 – £48,536 per annum, dependent on experience

GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
