Market Risk Assessment Officer

  1. in OPT is looking for an Agricultural Insurance Market Risk Assessment Officer that will be responsible for coordinating the market risk assessment component within the Palestinian Agricultural Sector and Subsectors. This will involve follow up on all consultancies, facilitations, and data analyses for the environmental and non-environmental risks farmers and producers face within the Palestinian Agricultural sectors. In addition, we are looking for someone to follow up on all of the activities related to developing market data infrastructure and an information system, including but not limited to market risks, damages and losses, and current and potential agricultural products risk indices. Another essential role is to follow up on actuarial work, through which new agricultural insurance products will be developed and updated. Coordinating the capacity building of partners to improve their understanding, use, and updating of the market data database is also key.

Looking for the following experiences :

  • A suitable masters economics / mathematical economics / statistical studies / agricultural economics with concentration agricultural insurance studies / development management or other development sector related to rural livelihoods.
  • Solid experience managing or coordinating in development and monitoring of market assessment studies / actuarial assessments / risk analysis, preferably within the agriculture/rural sector. Minimum relevant years of experience are seven years.
  • Good project management and reporting skills, including analysing complex data and data sources.
  • Understanding and experience working with data infrastructure through MISs and Report generation.
  • Direct experience working with governmental/semi-governmental and NGOs, preferably on developing organizations, ideally in the oPt or Middle East context, and a strong awareness of their strengths, weaknesses, and organizational culture.
