Background

HQAI is an independent auditor for the humanitarian and development sector. The standard we use is the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) on Quality and Accountability. HQAI verifies that organisations correctly apply the standard from the head office to the field. HQAI responds to growing demands from NGOs, governments, donors and the public for a professional, objective and independent assurance that organisations supporting vulnerable and at risk communities act in accordance with the CHS. HQAI is a not-for-profit organisation registered as a Swiss association.

Working environment

From HQAI Secretariat based in Geneva, a small and dedicated team manages the organisations’ activities. The Marketing and Communication Officer (MarCom Officer) will experience a dynamic working environment oriented towards innovation. This job opening is a unique opportunity to be involved in a cutting-edge initiative, learn about quality and accountability and contribute to advance HQAI’s impact in the humanitarian and development sector.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Digital

  • Management of Social Media channels
  • Editing and dispatch of electronic newsletters
  • Management of HQAI’s website
  • Monitoring and contribution to blogs and fora
  • Proactive development of tools to improve HQAI’s visibility and quality of internal and external communication
  • Contribution to video creation, editing and publication, as appropriate

Project Management and networking

  • Management of public awareness campaign to raise HQAI’s profile
  • Internal and external event management including meetings, round tables, exhibitions (remote and in person) and representation of HQAI at events
  • Management of diverse projects within the team and coordination with suppliers and consultants
  • Proactive outreach and networking with potential and actual partners, as well as strategic stakeholders

Content & branding

  • Proactive content creation through interviews with stakeholders, showcasing testimonials, text creation, storytelling etc.
  • Creation and publication of formal quality assurance items, including certificates and certification marks
  • Proofreading and editing of MarCom documents as well as of corporate documents from other departments
  • Drive, keep up to date and advocate for HQAI’s corporate style guide and quality communication

Admin

  • Meeting minutes and support to the Head of Marketing and Communication and Executive Director, as requested

  • Excellent written and spoken English, fluency in French and/or other UN language is a plus.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent in the field of Marketing and/or Communication;
  • At least 2 years experience in Marketing and/or Communication; experience in the humanitarian and development sector is a plus;
  • Good knowledge of MailChimp, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, PremierePro), CanvaPro, website content management programmes, online meeting platforms, as well as usual office software.
