Job Summary
As a member of the Institutional Donor Communications team, the Marketing Manager is directly responsible for managing the CRS_Expertise Twitter account, and for producing and implementing a yearly marketing and communications plan that advance CRS as a leader in our industry. The Marketing Manager targets key audiences within the field of relief and development with a focus on institutional donors and peer agencies. The Marketing Manager meets freque
ntly with content producers, the events manager and other key team members and advises on effective ways to market CRS’ programming to these audiences and manages all marketing activities supporting the CRS Agency strategy.
Strategic Planning
- Develops and maintains high-level networks with peer organizations and serves as liaison with a diverse group of influencers focused on the agency’s mission to serve the most vulnerable—governments, civil society, INGOs, and foundations;
- Prepares or oversees preparation of major communications products, including briefing notes and talking points for senior management, as well as branded materials for outreach efforts;
- Meets regularly with Advocacy and Government Affairs staff in Washington, DC to gauge priorities and to align messaging on events and outreach plans, as appropriate;
- Operationalizes strategies around award pre-positioning with IDEA colleagues, namely through events, visits, and outreach efforts. Serves as part of larger OOCM pre-positioning for awards.
Digital Relationship Engagement
- Works closely with Digital Team to manage OOCM email marketing cam
paigns, including best practices around use of customer relationship management (CRM) and content management systems (CMS); - Fosters collaboration between Digital Team, PIQA, and Country Programs to develop core lists for relationship management.
Events Management
- Oversees strategic planning and coordination for high level events, including working with Country Programs to identify key audiences and messaging, advising management on risks and opportunities for large-scale events and fora;
- Joins Marketing Manager and MarCom social media strategists in developing event specific social media plans, including short videos, data visualizations, and dynamic social media opportunities;
- Supervises OOCM Events Assistant, who manages all domestic and international conference booths, U.S. based events, and logistics, as necessary.
M
edia Relations
- Attends MarCom pitch meetings representing PIQA to contribute expertise on pitching to secular media and trade press;
- Identifies topics for op-eds on technical topics and suggests outlets for placement;
- With MarCom PIQA representative, identifies media angles for technical staff, events, and publications, particularly around major gatherings (UNGA, World Bank Spring and Fall meetings, anniversaries, international celebrations).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Communications or relevant field. Masters preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of professional communications or marketing.
- Experience and knowledge of institutional donors, and donor industry
- Social media expertise required, especially Twitter and Twitter ads
- Must have strong handle on the fundamentals of marketing
- Knowledge
of Webinar software - Experience managing in-person public events
- Storytelling experience
- Strong networking and collaboration skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Prior experience in international development/NGO Sector
- Basic design skills desirable (video, photoshop and graphic design)
Must be willing and able to travel up to 15%.
