Qualifications:

  1. Have 3-5 years of experience related to this position or a minimum of a three-year university degree in project management and administration.
  2. Great initiator, who wants to take a line of conduct and initiative.
  3. Be well organized with a great command of planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
  4. Have experience and mastery of financial affairs.
  5. Good command of French and English (knowledge of other languages ​​spoken in Burundi would be an asset).
  6. Strong communication skills (Experienced in using emails, WhatsApp and telephone) for the work of the organization.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of partner organizations or the ability/willingness to learn.
  8. The ability to maintain professional confidentiality.
  9. The ability to work on important details simultaneously.
  10. Ability to pay attention to detail.
  11. Be of good character embodying the values ​​of MCC.
  12. Good knowledge of Word and excellent command of Excel.
  13. Demonstrated excellent time management in reporting.
  14. The employee must be willing to be flexible in their working hours. While much work can be accomplished during normal working hours, 8am – 4pm, there will be times when necessary work must be done in the evenings and on weekends. Work outside normal working hours does not attract additional payment.
  15. Ability to respect working hours – be on time.

General function of the position

The position is under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator. The function and tasks include:

  1. Work closely with the MCC Representative(s), the Program Manager, the Finance and Administration Officer, the accountant and other agents for the capacity building of partners, the development of projects and their monitoring and evaluation.
  2. Coordinate program logistics.
  3. Assist in withdrawals and payments as needed upon direction from the MCC Burundi Representative (Rep).

The person to be hired for this position is a local person who will be paid by the organization. The contract is for one year including 4 months of trial. The employee must have a high level of mastery of project management, reporting and communication (use of email, WhatsApp and telephone for the service). The employee must also have good relationships with partners and have communication and negotiation skills. The employee must be honest and have excellent financial and time management.

The employee must be willing to be flexible in their working hours. While much of the work can be done during normal working hours, 8am – 4pm, there will be times when necessary work must be done in the evenings and on weekends. Work outside of normal working hours does not attract additional pay.

**Responsibilities (**Among others)

  • Support partners in drafting projects and preparing project reports on time in collaboration with the accountant and the Program Coordinator.
  • Assist partners in empowerment and fundraising.
  • Strengthen the capacity of partners according to specific needs, including on policies for the prevention of sexual violence.
  • Assist the accountant in preparing reports to be submitted to the government.
  • Inform the MCC Representative, Program Coordinator and Accountant about changes in financial policies.
  • Assist the MCC Representative in preparing the budget and monitoring projects in collaboration with the Accountant.
  • With the Accountant, reconcile the balance in the cash register each week and each month.
  • Provide assistance in maintaining office records.
  • Assist volunteers to help them settle into the country, including working on logistics, housing and visas.
  • Ensure honesty and financial integrity.
  • Coordinate the logistics of the program in Burundi.
  • Serve as MCC focal point to receive complaints and prepare incident reports on sexual exploitation according to MCC policy.
  • Work closely with partners in preparing financial reports according to the MoUs, in August, December and April, following the MCC model. The reports will be placed in the PlanWin program.
  • Work as an interpreter in MCC activities.
  • Provide assistance in capacity building of partners in financial accounting, transparency and reporting.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor (Rep).
