MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a new role, requiring someone with a strong personality and a background in humanitarian MEAL to drive forward the function. Working within the Programmes Department and across all HRF’s international offices, the MEAL & Information Officer will be responsible for developing and supporting all MEAL functions. Specific responsibilities will include;
- Monitoring project performance against indicators set out in logical frameworks and other related documents.
- Reviewing, editing and drafting weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports ready for submission to donors.
- Leading on the development of MEAL tools, including developing MEAL plans, the development and roll out of field-level assessment tools, analysis tools, reporting tools, and others.
- Supporting in the analysis of data collected from the field and secondary sources.
- Providing technical support to field teams when conducting MEAL activities.
- Developing HRF’s internal MEAL and IM policies and SOPs relevant to the contexts HRF is operating in.
- Developing and maintaining accountability and feedback mechanisms.
- Developing and leading MEAL capacity development training courses for HQ and field staff across HRF.
- Managing the flow of information from field offices to HQ’s marketing team, providing updates and success stories for use in marketing material.
- Developing a system for the collation and analysis of lessons learned through project implementation.
- Assisting in the development of annual reports and the preparation of presentations and other reports for a variety of audiences.
- Supporting the rest of the Programmes Department in the conduct of its functions as necessary, including supporting proposal development.
- Conducting periodic field monitoring visits to HRF project and office sites.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- At least 4 years experience in working in humanitarian MEAL.
- University degree in a related field.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of MEAL principles, MEAL tools and applications.
- Great team working and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and motivated attitude.
- Excellent IT skills including use of the full Microsoft Office suite.
- Good attention to detail and strong presentation skills.
- Strong experience in the preparation of reports for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work under time pressure, and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Previous experience in delivering capacity building training to colleagues.
- Fluency in English.
- Understanding of another UN language is an asset.
