The Opportunity
MEAL Officer is a role within the Balkans Migration and Displacement Hub (BMDH) team which will work to ensure that all Save the Children and Partner projects are supported to ensure the quality, effectiveness and appropriateness of their programmes pertaining to supporting children on the move in the Balkans.
MEAL Officer will be working on monitoring the implementation of project activities, preparation of high-quality reports as per SC and donor requirements and preparation and follow up on detailed implementation plans. The role holder will be involved in proposal writing and log frame development. MEAL Officer provides oversight for the project MEAL function including putting in place and ensuring that the project uses MEAL tools to adequately plan, monitor, evaluate and report in a timely manner on activity implementation; outputs and outcomes. In addition, the role holder ensures that quality benchmarks are used implementation of project activities.
MEAL Officer ensures that a feedback and reporting mechanism is in place for collecting, tracking and responding to feedback.
It will be important for the role holder to capture lessons learned and communicate this information in various capacities to improve ongoing and future programming S/he will guide the utilization of an effective monitoring system, including the use of beneficiary feedback data, to assure the quality of interventions.
MEAL Officer will lead the capacity building of staff and partners, by providing support, particularly on accountability and participation, with a specific focus on children.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in designing, implementing, and overseeing MEAL tasks.
* Knowledge of the application of analytical methods for measuring program and project performance.
* Demonstrated interest in current global, regional and local migration and displacement trends, policies and data resources as well as child rights, child protection and child participation issues.
* A flexible, independent and initiative-taking attitude.
* An advanced degree in social sciences or related field. Relevant and demonstrable experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
