ERIM (legally IREX Europe) is a non-profit organization based in Lyon, France. We propose innovative projects to promote human rights, strengthen independent media and support civil society. ERIM’s approach emphasizes partnerships with local development organizations to bring about societal change.
ERIM is looking for an experienced Project Manager based in Lyon to work with our team in implementing media development, freedom of expression, media literacy and information, human rights and civil society in the Med-MENA region (including the Balkans, North Africa and Middle East countries).
Responsibilities:
- Implement different and/or support the implementation of projects financed by international donors in partnership with local partners, as well as the finance & administration team, and ensure monitoring and evaluation, preparation of reports, project monitoring , etc.
- Identify, research and develop new funding opportunities and applications within ERIM’s mandate and utilize ERIM’s specific skills and capabilities to do so.
- Ensure close coordination between the different stakeholders involved in the projects, including partners, beneficiaries and donors.
- Context monitoring and general research on issues relating to human rights and media independence and press freedom in the Med-MENA Region.

Essential criteria:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field of study (political science, human rights, media, journalism, international relations, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of studies and work experience.
- At least five years of experience managing international projects, including sub-grant aspects, in the areas of civil society development, human rights promotion and/or media development.
- Knowledge and experience of civil society and media landscape in the Balkans and/or Middle East and/or North African countries.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
- Excellent understanding and concrete experience in financial reporting, budgetary and financial monitoring of projects financed by donors, including management of co-financing.
- Proactive, solution-oriented individual able to work independently.
- Organized person and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel abroad regularly.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel).
- Person based or willing to be based in Lyon.
The right to live and work in France is mandatory.
The following criteria will be considered an advantage :
- Understanding of the civil society and media landscape in the Med-MENA region.
- Demonstrated previous experience in fundraising, grant design and grant writing
- Experience working for AFD, DRL and EU funded projects
- Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset
Contractual conditions:
- 12-month full-time fixed-term contract (37 hours per week) starting as soon as possible. With the possibility of renewal.
- Salary according to the ERIM scale: from 2,944 euros gross depending on experience.
- Job based in Lyon, France, with occasional international travel.
