**Media Manager Policy and Cause Location: London (hybrid role working between home and office) Contract type: Permanent Hours per week: 35 Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum dependent on experience (inclusive of Inner London Weighting allowance)

About this opportunity**

We are looking for a creative, inspiring communicator and leader to be our Media Manager (Policy and Cause). This is a fantastic role driving the public voice of the British Red Cross – m anaging the strategic planning and delivery of media activity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • proactively develop and grow the public profile of the British Red Cross’ policy and strategic priorities;
  • lead a small, high performing team to deliver proactive UK media moments – including the launch of significant policy reports – throughout the year;
  • build the credibility and visibility of the British Red Cross with Government, MPs, policy leaders and other key stakeholders in all four nations of the UK;
  • build strong relationships with key media outlets and journalists to secure coverage that reaches our key audiences;
  • work closely with the Policy, Research and Advocacy team to develop engaging, highly relevant and impactful communications strategies and plans;
  • line manage a senior media officer and a media officer.

This role might be for you if…

As an experienced communicator you will have a strong understanding of UK and international media. You will be able to spot what makes a good story and understand both news and features.

You will have:

  • Strong working knowledge of media in the UK, with a strong understanding of both news and features as well as knowledge of what makes a good story
  • The ability to adapt to changing and / or new, sudden onset demands revising plans, content, approaches as needed
  • Substantial experience of, and proven ability, as a media and public relations officer or journalist
  • Significant experience communicating on issues that are high on the media agenda
  • An extensive network of contacts in news media in the UK.
