MEL Advisor – Ukraine At Christian Aid

This role could be homebased or based in the UK in the London office (with the opportunity to work from home on some days each week in line with Christian Aid’s hybrid working approach) or work from the Dublin office in Ireland. The salary quoted is for homeworking but if based in our London office, the salary will be £43,907.

This is an urgent recruitment in response to the Ukraine appeal and this role will require the successful candidate to start immediately. The appointment made through this process will be for an initial period of up to 1 year (with the possibility of extension). We reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have successfully filled the role, therefore early applications are encouraged. This role requires applicants to have the right to work in UK/Ireland which will give them visa-free entry to Ukraine (for up to 90 days).

For internal applicants, this role is to be offered on a secondment basis or a fixed term contract. If you are applying for this role on a secondment basis please seek approval from your line manager. If this role is offered as a secondment and the post is a higher pay band, you will receive the salary as advertised. You will receive this salary for the period of the secondment and then revert to your substantive salary. If this secondment is on a lower salary than your current salary, you will retain your current salary for the period of the secondment. You will not have your salary reduced.

Further information

At Christian Aid we strive to be an inclusive and diverse employer and recognise the value that this brings in helping to build strong, creative and high performing teams.

We are actively encouraging racialised minorities, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, returning parents or carers who are re-entering work after a career break, people with caring responsibilities, people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, women, and older workers to apply. This is because these groups are under-represented within our teams, especially at senior level, and we recognise and value the contributions members of these groups make to strong, creative and high performing teams.

We have a strong Christian ethos and we encourage applications from all faiths and none (with the exception of Director positions where there is a genuine occupational requirement to be a practicing Christian – Exempted under the Equality Act 2010).

From 1 July 2021, the process for completing right to work checks has changed and we can no longer accept EU passports or ID cards as valid proof of right to work, with the exception of Irish citizens.

There are now two types of right to work checks: a manual check and an online check. A manual check can be completed against relevant documentation as outlined by the Home Office. An online check can be completed if you hold digital proof of your immigration status in the UK. We will require your share code and date of birth to carry out this check. Please see Government website for more information on acceptable documents.

All successful candidates will require either a Basic or Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service certificate (DBS) and a Counter Terrorism Sanction check as part of your clearance for commencing your role with us. Information will be forwarded to you by the HR team with your offer.

Christian Aid is committed to providing a safe and trusted environment for every person connected to the work we do; and to preventing any type of unwanted behaviour including sexual harassment and exploitation, abuse, and financial misconduct. Any candidate offered a job with Christian Aid is expected to share and demonstrate our values and adhere to Christian Aid’s Safeguarding policy and sign Christian Aid’s Code of Conduct.

You can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, a season ticket loan, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance.
