ABOUT IAU

Founded in 1950 under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Association of Universities (IAU) is the global voice of higher education offering a global forum for leaders of institutions and associations to discuss and debate higher education at the global level. IAU convenes and connects universities and other higher education stakeholders from more than 130 countries to identify, reflect and act on key issues relating to higher education. It is an independent, bilingual (English and French), non-governmental membership organization. It offers special services to its Members and serves the higher education community at large. ABOUT THE POSITION

The position of Officer, Membership development and Conference preparations, reports directly to the IAU Secretary-General/ Executive Director and to the Manager, HE & Digital Transformation, Publication and Events. The successful candidate will work on Membership engagement; will participate in the organisation of the IAU 16th General Conference, to take place in October 2022.

Responsibilities

I – Membership engagement **

· Work closely with the IAU Secretary General/Executive Director and with the Manager, Communication and Media

· Assist with membership engagement campaigns at global level

· Organise meetings for group discussions among Members around the world

· Draft communication material and meeting reports

II – IAU General Conference

· Guided by the Manager, HE & Digital Transformation, Publication and Events, the incumbent will participate in the preparation of the General Conference including the following tasks:

· Develop and update the conference website

· Liaise with participants and contribute to the registration process

· Contribute to the development of communication campaigns for participant mobilization

III – Other **

· Provide assistance to the Secretariat when necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

· Background: Bachelor degree in communication

Language: **

· Excellent skills in English; proficiency in French

Skills: **

· Good communication and drafting skills

· IT literate

· Dynamic, team-player with a positive attitude

· Good inter-personal /inter-cultural skills

· Good organizational skills and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously

· Experience of working in an international context

· Good understanding of the higher education sector

Authorisation to work in France is mandatory

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS **

· Experience with conference management

· Experience with membership development

· Experience working for an NGO

· Knowledge of the work of IAU, UNESCO/ multilateral bodies
