Pay Band: London £40,489 – £44,751 Dublin €49,905 – €58,711

Job Purpose:
The Mental Health Adviseris a newly created strategic role within the Health Support Unit. This role will have a global remit and will deal with all Concern Worldwide staff. The majority of the role will involve organising and delivering wellbeing supports and training for all staff groups across Concern. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing professional external support systems for Francophone staff in their country of domicile, therefore a strong knowledge and ability to identify and source French-speaking mental health support providers is required. A passion for providing mental health support, along with an ability to identify the exact support needed is key for this role. In addition to providing mental health support 20% of this role will be involved in providing day-to-day support to staff occupational health.
This is an exciting opportunity for a mental health professional to develop new methods of support and improve on existing procedures already in place in Concern Worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Organize and facilitate remote and face to face training for staff in the areas of mental health, trauma support and wellbeing in French and English;
- Responsible for identifying and providing support for French speaking countries in the area of mental health support;
- Source external French language mental health resources and providers in our countries of operation;
- Respond to crisis events within the organisation by identifying and organising the relevant mental health support needed for individuals and travelling to the location as required;
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the compilation of reports and after action learnings to improve on Concern’s responses;
- Act as a key contributor in the development of an organizational mental health strategy and implementation plan;
- As part of the Health Unit, identify and develop appropriate psychological supports for various groups of staff across the organization;
- Keep up to date with current relevant research in the area of mental health and wellbeing, ensuring that this learning is shared within the team and reflected in our work Recommend and adopt new ways of working, creating policy documents where necessary for the organisation
- Develop networks within the sector in the area of mental health provision and support;
- Accept, advance and pursue any new objectives or responsibilities that may be assigned by the Health Advisor;
- Undertake specific projects as required.
Staff Occupational Health
- Assist with the co-ordination of pre and post assignment medicals for Concern’s international staff group, predominantly but not exclusively in French. This includes organizing and tracking the following:
- Medical examinations (including vaccinations and medication prescriptions);
- Health briefings;
- Resilience briefings;
- Post assignment briefings.
- Deliver staff health briefings in French as necessary;
- Deliver webinars, presentations and information sessions as required in English and French;
- Liaise with French speaking staff overseas who have medical queries or are ill, monitoring individual illness and illness trends and connecting staff members to relevant services;
- Input into the development of briefing documents and guidance notes for various staff groups related to current outbreaks or epidemics;
- Provide cover for the Concern Emergency phone on a rota basis;
- At all times act within your scope of professional practice;
- Manage and maintain medical files;
- Any other duties as required.
Essential experience and background:
- Educated to third level
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Qualification and experience in mental health and wellbeing arena;
- Excellent oral and written French language skills;
- Experience delivering and coordinating wellbeing programmes and/ or trauma support;
- Excellent group facilitation and training skills;
- Experience in policy or report writing.
Desirable:
- Counselling qualification and experience;
- Experience working in the sector overseas;
- Travel/tropical medicine qualification or experience.
