WHO ARE WE ?

Médecins du Monde is an international medical development NGO that is part of an international network. We provide medical assistance to vulnerable groups, in Belgium and the rest of the world. We want universal health coverage where everyone has access to care, without obstacles.

In Belgium and around the world, our projects are aimed at all people who have no or no longer access to health care. In particular, they are structured into five axes: people on the margins of society, children in vulnerable situations, women, migrants or displaced people and victims of crises or conflicts.

CONTEXT

Médecins du Monde has been working in Morocco since 2013 to ensure access to inclusive, quality care and protection services for all people in vulnerable situations.
MdM-Belgium works in Morocco in close collaboration with Moroccan civil society organizations.
The themes of intervention in the country are: Health and Rights in Migration (SDM), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) with Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and transversally: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support ( SMSPS). The main areas of intervention focus on: technical and programmatic support for local partners, consortium coordination, advocacy and mobilization of networks around themes of interest.

In response to the emergency situation following the earthquake that occurred in September 2023, Médecins du Monde and its partners launched an emergency response in the most affected areas in order to provide appropriate assistance to the most vulnerable people affected. by the earthquake.

Our interventions focus on three main areas: Oriental Region, Rabat-Salé Region and Marrakech-Taroudant Region.

THE ESSENTIAL

Under the supervision of the Regional Health Coordinator, the SMSPS supervisor is responsible for ensuring continuous monitoring of the quality of psychosocial work through technical supervision of clinical psychologists assigned to health care projects. MdM in Morocco.

He/she works closely with the partners’ psychologists as well as with the technical referent at headquarters.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical supervision of psychologists and support for MHPSS activities:

  • Ensure the application of international standards (notably IASC) for psychological care and compliance with MdM protocols and procedures
  • Ensure regular technical and training supervision of clinical psychologists and other health and community professionals involved in psychosocial and mental health interventions, and organize feedback meetings with the health coordination.
  • Ensure regular control of documents (registers, individual files, etc.) and psychosocial support tools and ensure their completeness.
  • Ensure monitoring of data collection by and analysis of MHPSS data.
  • Formulation of a supervision framework adapted to the needs of the programs allowing a measurable increase in skills and proposal of indicators for the annual evaluation
  • Ensure respect and quality of community-based activities (in tandem with the medical supervisor) and psychosocial activities (discussion groups, recreational activities, etc.).
  • Update the mapping of services, set up therapeutic mental health itineraries and feed the referral system for care providers
  • Report monthly to the Health Coordinator on the needs arising from the supervision of activities, the related challenges and the evolution of the context in relation to MHPSS
  • Formulate with the health coordination recommendations and proposals for corrective measures for deficiencies observed during supervision and control sessions, and monitor their implementation.
  • Have regular exchanges with the SMSPS technical referent at headquarters on the supervision of teams and partners, capacity building, improvement of services and activities, etc.

Capacity building for psychologists and other front-line actors:

  • Contribute to the continuing training of psychologists and other front-line professionals assigned to MdM projects in Morocco (and in particular the psychologists of partners supported by MdM) through close support and an analysis of professional practices.
  • Identify capacity building needs for front-line staff on the MHPSS theme and propose training, retraining and technical upgrading activities to the regional health coordinator and the MHPSS technical referent at headquarters according to individual needs , and take part in their organization.
  • Promote the sharing of experiences and knowledge between psychosocial staff through contribution and participation in MHPSS communities of practice meetings.

Coordination of psychosocial interventions, support for partnership and advocacy:

  • Formulate any useful proposals with a view to improving the coordination of psychosocial interventions within and between MdM projects as well as within the framework of projects supported by MdM.
  • Support the health coordinator in identifying operational partners as part of the exit strategy
  • Support the health coordinator in identifying strategic MHPSS partnerships and participate in coordination and networking meetings upon request
  • At the request of the health coordination, represent MdM during thematic meetings on mental health and/or psychosocial care, cluster meetings and other platforms, conferences, etc.

Reporting and capitalization:

  • Write and send to the health coordinator a periodic report of supervision and support activities according to the agreed terms.
  • In collaboration with the hierarchy and technical support of the SMSPS referent, develop, implement and adapt supervision and psychological support tools and/or propose internationally validated tools.
  • Write and submit to the hierarchy theoretical or technical framework notes on poorly understood aspects of psychological care.

Support for the MHPSS strategy:

  • Support the health coordinator in identifying needs and implementing the MHPSS intervention strategy in Tunisia
  • Support the health coordinator in analyzing the context, obstacles to accessing services and areas for advocacy

PROFILE

TRAINING AND SKILLS

Qualifications required :

  • Master in clinical psychology;
  • At least five years’ experience in individual and/or group psychological support, including at least two years with vulnerable groups and/or people in migration situations;
  • Mastery of individual, group and community psychological care and supervision techniques;
  • Good knowledge of mental health related to migration;
  • Proficiency with IT tools: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent oral and written expression skills in French;
  • Proficiency in Arabic (Moroccan Darija) and English is an asset.
  • Having worked in an NGO and mastering the MHPSS aspect (MHPSS – according to the IASC pyramid) is an asset

This job profile may be modified, depending on the evolution of the work. In addition to the tasks mentioned above, the MHPSS supervisor may be required to carry out other tasks assigned by his/her supervisor according to the needs of the mission.
