Context:

Under the general guidance of Programme Manager (MHPSS) and the direct supervision of the MHPSS Officer (Technical Lead), the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing problem and emotion-based psychoeducation, support groups and individual counselling sessions and performing the following functions and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:Assist in the organization of MHPSS services in the form of individual and group sessions.

  • Assist in the organization of interventions mental health specialists such as clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, and social workers etc., and assist to make referrals to specialized services when needed.
  • Assist primary caregivers to organize their support to families with members having mental health and behavioral challenges.
  • Support in the organization of interventions and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families and groups.
  • Help organize platforms and workshop on disseminating key information and advocacy messages on MHPSS.
  • Assist in reporting all services provided in Smart Camp SYNC (Data Entry System); including follow-up and new cases, as well as visibility materials of all MHPSS activities conducted at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS).
  • Assist to organize capacity building activities for IOM staff, CAS focal points, Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and Community volunteers on psychosocial support related issues through workshops and trainings.
  • Support the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University or Bachelor’s Degree in counselling psychology, or any other relevant field with three years of relevant professional experience from an accredited academic institution.
  • High school degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Proven work experience in a Mental Health Counselling Unit or similar.
  • Experience working with at-risk community members.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government, or government institutions/organization.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development, and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.

Languages

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Basic knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Pashto and Arabic is an advantage.
