Migration Expert – Morocco At Seefar

The Migrant Project is looking for four Migration Experts with a perfect command of French and Arabic for an educational awareness campaign in Morocco on the risks and realities of irregular migration.

As a Migration Expert, you will be responsible for raising awareness among parents of potential migrants under the age of 18 about the risks and alternatives to irregular migration, so that they can help their children make informed choices and direct them to the appropriate structures.

You must have demonstrated experience working within communities in Morocco, thematic experience on irregular migration as well as a strong interest in this topic, and be able to work autonomously. You must be based in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).

Contract duration: 9 months, with an estimated start date of October 15, 2024

Remuneration: 1400 EUR per month plus 100 EUR to cover communication and travel expenses.

Job Description

The Migrant Project, present in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, aims to raise awareness among potential and transit migrants about the realities of irregular migration, such as the risks of travel, and to present possible local alternatives.

As a Migration Expert, you will be responsible for raising awareness about the risks and alternatives to irregular migration.

Responsibilities

As a Migration Expert you will be required to:

  • Create and maintain a list of alternatives to irregular migration present in your region;
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations in your regions;
  • Conduct individual face-to-face or telephone consultations to raise awareness among parents of potential migrants aged 13 to 18;
  • Organize and participate in events targeting parents of potential young migrants aged 13 to 18;
  • Direct beneficiaries to our media pages as well as to our partner organizations (associations, NGOs, etc.);
  • Stay up to date on news related to irregular migration;
  • Complete the monitoring sheets diligently.

An excellent candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Will have a minimum of an undergraduate university degree;
  • Will have at least three years of experience in community work in Senegal;
  • Will preferably have knowledge of the issues of irregular migration;
  • Will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable speaking and conveying information face to face as well as over the telephone;
  • Will have excellent abilities to motivate and influence individuals;
  • Will have close links with local communities and institutions;
  • Will have an excellent reputation within the local community;
  • Will have a perfect command of French and Arabic, both written and spoken. English is an advantage.
  • Will have good computer skills, preferably in the use of Google Drive;
