WHAT DO WE DO
SOLIDARITIES INTERNATIONAL ( SI ) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has been helping populations victims of armed conflict and natural disasters by meeting vital needs, drink, eat, take shelter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements, through its interventions, expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in that, essential, food security and livelihood. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams, 2,500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, some volunteers…- intervene with professionalism and commitment in respecting cultures.
SCRIPTION OF THE MISSION
Since March 2020, SI has intervened in France to respond to the COVID 19 health crisis in four territories. Our projects target audiences living in degraded habitats such as slums, camps or squats and having in particular limited access to basic services, in terms of drinking water, sanitation, and access to basic hygiene products. In times of health crisis, the « non-connected » people are more vulnerable and have, more than ever, need to access these Water Hygiene and Sanitation services to be able to apply barrier gestures and improve their living conditions.
The objectives of the mission :
- Rapid and appropriate response in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation ( EHA ) to epidemics or to the increase of diseases of water or vector origin.
Respond quickly and adapted to the water needs hygiene and sanitation of populations during an epidemic or an increase in cases of water or vector diseases in Mayotte in coordination with the actors local.
- Optimization of access to water, hygiene and sanitation ( EHA ) and sustainable management of water resources to meet the needs of all
Diagnosis of water uses and availability.
Technical support for urban requalification projects and improvement of access to sanitation
Save water for the purpose of preserving the environment and providing sufficient and qualitative access to the resource for all uses.
Mission size / base ( budget, number of expatriates and national staff )
Small mission, 20 employees and some assistants
Target annual budget: 1,550,000 euros
Opening of a mission in Mayotte :
SI was challenged by local associations, concerning the drinking water crisis facing a high share of the population living in the department of Mayotte.
The significant difficulties of access to water, hygiene and sanitation for these people, and therefore the health risks to which they are exposed, led SI to set up a base in Mayotte at the end of 2022 to support local actors through 4 axes :
Coordination of local actors
Containment of epidemic risk
Technical support for the development of local projects for access to water and sanitation
Advocacy and capacity building of local actors
DESCRPTION OF THE POST
Goals :
The community mobilizer is responsible for community mobilization aspects :
Promotion to hygiene
Improvement of living conditions ( direct implementation )
Accountability to beneficiaries on SI actions
Priorities for the first 2-3 months :
Meet the inhabitants of 12 slums and set up methodology mob com diagnoses
Analyze ( ground and bibliographic ) the challenges of community dynamics
Work on co-construction with the inhabitants of a site to improve living conditions
Accompany hygiene kit distributions and implementation of beneficiary responsibility
YOUR PROFILE
Employee position :
A 12-month CDD or CDI contract
According to experience, a monthly remuneration of 2,784 euros gross
