Médecins Sans Frontières , an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or even exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.
As part of a replacement and an increase in activity, we are looking for SOCIAL WORKERS in Ile de France in Sevran (93) M/F.
Context :
Since 2017 Médecins Sans Frontières has managed a reception center for newly arrived minors, appealing to the children’s judge to have their minority recognized, and provides support through three areas of activity: socio-legal, somatic health and mental health.
This operational program is supplemented by an accommodation system, called “Passerelle” and located in Sevran (93), and a Mobile Clinic operating in Ile de France.
The social worker works within the framework of the “Passerelle” program in Sevran which accommodates 20 young people in recourse, girls and boys in two separate accommodations. This system aims to focus on the exclusive accommodation of young unaccompanied minors during the year 2024.
The accommodation system offers comprehensive support, with a view to protection and access to socio-educational support. This work is done in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team at the Pantin day center.
Main mission :
As part of a team of social workers and under the responsibility of the accommodation manager, the social worker is responsible for overall support (schooling, health, access to rights , professional integration, etc.) of young people who are referred to the “Passerelle” accommodation system, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of the Pantin Center and in partnership with external services
The social worker also contributes to the consolidation of the system, participates in spaces for reflection and implementation concerning the organization of accommodation and the care of young people.
Responsibilities:
Reception and management of daily life:
– Ensure the admission and reception of young people in the accommodation system.
– Create a relationship of quality and trust with the young people welcomed.
– Guarantee understanding and respect of the framework, as well as the rules of life and safety.
– Involve the young people accommodated in the organization of daily life and related tasks.
– Encourage the empowerment of young people accommodated, and support their integration into society.
– Participate in accommodation management (stock monitoring, food shopping, etc.)
– Organize collective life and lead weekly meetings.
– Liven up the daily life of the accommodation by proposing and implementing actions involving young people, in order to promote their autonomy and their involvement in collective life.
– Guarantee that accommodation is kept in good working order and cleanliness by involving young people.
Support for unaccompanied minors in appeals:
– Evaluate the needs of young people relating to their situation.
– In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of the Pantin Center, develop individualized projects structuring support for young people, guaranteeing their participation and the expression of their choices.
– Ensure the monitoring and support of young people in their administrative procedures (lawyer link, support in hearing, access to rights), medical (monitoring of appointments and progress), educational and professional integration (initiate with the young person and depending on your project, access to schooling, explain professional integration procedures).
– Direct young people towards external services corresponding to their needs and ensure the monitoring of these orientations as well as the various partnerships.
– Guarantee anticipation of the end of accommodation care (end of appeal to the judge, access to majority, ASE care) by supporting young people in carrying out the necessary steps to access common law systems adapted (different depending on whether ASE placement is obtained or not).
Teamwork and administrative work:
– Report to your superiors any problem related to the safety or health of young people.
– Report regularly to your superiors on your activity, including any participation in a meeting or external activity.
– Participate in team and individual meetings required by superiors and/or MSF managers, as well as multidisciplinary work with the center’s medical (nurses and psychologists), social and legal teams (cultural mediators, social worker, lawyer) by Pantin.
– Produce, as a team or individually if justified, any educational support necessary for their work (protocol, monitoring report, individual interview).
– Collect qualitatively and transmit the requested data (reports/transfers).
– Guarantee the maintenance of confidentiality of all information relating to the young person (protection of personal data – sharing of secret information)
– Take care of the facilities, materials and equipment at your disposal.
– Collaborate with other team members to contribute to the logistical management of accommodation.
Required profile
Diploma in social work required (ES, AS, CESF)
Experience :
Minimum two years in a similar position.
Experience required with migrants, women and unaccompanied minors in particular , and/or in child protection.
LANGUAGES :
French required. English desirable.

Status and schedules:
Fixed-term contract (CDD) 12 months, renewable.
Working hours on defined schedule from Monday to Saturday. Schedules which can start at 7 a.m. and end at 9 p.m. (morning shift rotation and afternoon/evening shift). The workplace is located in Sevran.
Terms :
€2,691.71 gross monthly over 13 months. 22 days of RTT per year. Supplementary health care 100% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières. Restaurant vouchers with a face value of €11.00 (60% covered by MSF). 50% coverage of public transport fare or equivalent.
