Monitoring Coordinator At Association of Volunteers for International Service

  1. Context

AVSI Venezuela is a Venezuelan non-profit organization, created in 2022, to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of people who live in vulnerable situations. We are a local organization linked to the international context, through a partnership with the AVSI Foundation, a non-governmental, non-profit organization that supports 329 development cooperation projects in 39 countries, with headquarters in Italy, which operates in Venezuela from 2000 and which promoted the creation of AVSI Venezuela.

As part of the implementation of the WFP Food Assistance and Livelihood Program in Venezuela, the monitoring team, together with the State Coordinator, will plan, prepare, implement, supervise and quality data collection exercises, according to WFP corporate guidelines. The monitoring team will develop or coordinate activities such as: registration of beneficiaries in the initial stage, conducting results surveys, collection and systematization of data derived from the monitoring activities established by WFP.

2. Object

With this announcement, AVSI Venezuela selects a Monitoring Coordinator responsible for leading the planning, preparation, implementation, monitoring and quality processes of the data collection exercises collected in the field, within the framework of the Food Assistance Program. and Livelihoods of WFP in Venezuela, working hand in hand with a team of monitoring consultants, in accordance with WFP corporate guidelines and in close collaboration with the WFP field office team in Falcón state.

3. Description of functions

For the execution of the project, the Monitoring Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Guide and offer technical support to the monitoring team on the planning processes for conducting surveys, in accordance with WFP standards.
  • Guarantee the achievement of the established goal, the quality of the data, corresponding to the number of surveys to be carried out, in accordance with the guidelines, technical norms and quality standards of WFP.
  • Ensure that the information is correctly uploaded to the WFP corporate platform, being responsible for coordinating, together with the WFP team, spaces to make necessary adjustments to the database in a timely manner.
  • Manage information tools in the field with technical expertise.
  • Timely report technical-operational problems that may arise during the surveys and propose solutions to manage them, in coordination with the project manager and the WFP team.
  • Ensure that the monitoring team participates in the training processes provided by WFP and that they have the necessary soft skills.
  • Offer the team of enumerators technical guidance required for the correct completion of the surveys.
  • Ensure the proper management of the technological equipment provided by WFP for conducting surveys.
  • Create feedback spaces with the team to guarantee the quality of the information collected.
  • Supervise the team’s activities in the field, ensuring the practice of humanitarian principles and dignified treatment of participants of the Food Assistance and Livelihood Program.
  1. Key requirements and qualifications
  • Education: Professional related to Sociology, Social Work, Anthropology, Education, Psychology, Pedagogical Sciences.
  • Experience: at least two (2) years in community interventions, social and community work.
  • Experience in group management, facilitation of activities.
  • Oratory and pedagogical skills, desirable.

6. Work coordination

The Monitoring Coordinator will respond directly to the State Coordinator and the Director of AVSI Venezuela, based on the guidelines issued by the LATEAM Regional office, the Headquarters in Italy of the AVSI Foundation and the World Food Program (WFP).

7. Type of contract

  • Fixed-term contract
  • Start date: April 29, 2024
  • Completion date: November 30, 2024

8. Workplace

The work will be carried out in the AVSI Venezuela office in Falcón, so it is highly desirable to reside in the Falcón municipality or surrounding cities; Otherwise, availability to relocate to Falcón. Availability to travel to other municipalities and/or states where the project is being executed at the national level. Knowledge of the territory will be valued.
