Movement Communication Officer (for Philippines Nationals Only) At International Committee of the Red Cross

The Movement Communication Officer contributes to designing, planning and implementing communication projects and activities with or for the National Society, for the purpose of promoting the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s mandate and principles; and externally positioning the RCRC Movement as an effective humanitarian actor in times of crises. S/he contributes to representing the ICRC externally and building the necessary understanding and acceptance of a support for the ICRC among key stakeholders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to defining communication strategies and plans of action to enhance Movement Communication in line with the delegation’s communication/ prevention/ cooperation strategy
  • With minimum supervision, implements relevant activities or supports in the development of tools for building the Philippine Red Cross’ (National Society) communication capacity on public and digital communication, crisis and operational communication, information analysis/ environment scanning
  • Supports or conducts communication-related training and coaching mainly for PRC staff/volunteers; and/or ICRC teams as needed on Movement Communication
  • Supports the Communication Manager in networking with relevant stakeholders and representing the ICRC to various audiences, particularly among Movement partners in the communication field
  • Follows political, security, military and humanitarian developments, as well as other issues relevant to the ICRC’s and the PRC’s reputation/ perception and capacity to operate in the Philippines, contributing to their analysis
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the communication team (event organization)

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • University degree in communication or related field
  • 3 years progressive work experience in the communication field, preferably with an International Non-Government Organization/ Non-Government Organization
  • Experience in working with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an asset
  • Sound knowledge of the political, social and media environment in the Philippines
  • Able to work well autonomously and in a diverse, multicultural team
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Works well under pressure and during crisis
