JOB BRIEF

The Multimedia Production and Design Assistant assists in creating and managing a variety of multimedia projects including, but not necessarily limited to, video, podcasting, photography, info- and share graphics, and presentation design. This position is an integral part of the Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) team’s creative unit and will work closely with the Senior Multimedia Design Specialist in translating Institutional objectives and messaging to specific audiences through clear creative products. The position is based in Washington, DC, and will report to the Senior Multimedia Design Specialist. This position is ideal for a creative storyteller with strong technical, organizational, and project management skills.

TARGET SALARY RANGE

Grade 8 – $56,000-$59,000

The Institute uses the General Schedule salary tables for administering compensation. Contractor offers are determined based on candidate qualifications, related experience, internal equity, and the amount budgeted for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Multimedia Production and Support
* Assists with the scope, timing, budget, and quality of multimedia projects undertaken by Public Affairs and Communications, including work performed by related contractors.
* Assist in the designing and developing of new multimedia content, including video, podcasts, photography, and info- and share graphics and presentations for USIP based on institute needs, objectives, events, and programs.
* Supports in the strategic plan for multimedia content based on industry standards and practices that align with the team and the Institute’s strategic plan.
* Assist with the production of episodes of existing and new podcasts, including working with Institute programs, conceptualizing content, booking guests, editing audio, and publishing the finished product.
* Supports the cataloging and archival of USIP’s multimedia materials.
* Stays on top of industry standards and best practices that align with the Institute’s priorities.
* Ensures quality and branding standards are consistently met for all multimedia products.
* Works across PAC and programs to integrate multimedia content into digital communications, project design, event promotion, and public presentations.
* Responds to quick turnaround requests for design, info- and share graphics, USIP and stock photos, and other collateral.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

* A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or a related field of study or commensurate experience is required.
* A minimum of one (1) year of related professional experience is required.
* Demonstrated experience with, and ideally expertise in, key multimedia software tools (e.g., the Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere, Audition, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and synthesize feedback from multiple sources.
* Experience working across organizations, within all departments, and with vendors to design high-quality products that communicate ideas effectively and within budget.
* Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to work independently and yet collegially.
