Department: Psychosocial support

Location: Ritsona Long-term Refugee Accommodation Center

Start date: Early November 2021

Duration: 2 months (one session per week, with possibility of extension)

Context

Lighthouse Relief (LHR) was founded on the island of Lesvos in 2015, mobilising to provide an emergency response to arriving refugees. Thereafter, LHR expanded to support vulnerable groups such as children, women and youth on mainland Greece. In Ritsona Long-term Refugee Accommodation Center, LHR aims at providing psychosocial support to the community, by opening safe spaces, fostering resilience, and offering development opportunities, in a respectful and diverse environment.

The Youth Engagement Space (YES) is a youth-friendly drop-in centre where people from the age of 15 years old upwards can engage in unstructured leisure activities as well as structured workshops, including those focusing on arts, writing, music, life skills and sport. It is a safe space in camp for people to come and engage in different activities, receive informal support, talk with a member of the team/their peers, or just have a break from camp life.
