Introduction
The Jesuit Refugee Service ( JRS ) is an international Catholic organization and a work of the Society of Jesus. It was founded in 1980 and is nowadays found in around fifty countries. Its mission is to support, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons.
The JRS collaborates with other humanitarian organizations and agencies in order to support forcibly displaced persons, to provide them with quality services, and to make their situation known publicly in such a way that their rights and dignity are more respected. The JRS is open to collaboration with Jesuits, religious and nuns and lay people of all religious and philosophical convictions. Since its creation, the JRS has been able to fulfill its mission thanks to the participation of volunteers and employees engaged in the service of refugees and displaced persons.. JRS has been present in Chad since 2006.
General objective of the position
The general objective of the position is to ensure the quality of the programs implemented by JRS for the benefit of the beneficiaries. This by ensuring constant pedagogical support and monitoring of the indicators of all the projects implemented.
Main responsibilities of the position
- Educational support for JRS-Tchad educational projects. Coordination with members of the regional office, national office and field teams for effective support in the implementation of quality education.
- Strengthening the quality of JRS-Tchad’s education programs, through continuous investigation and the proposal of improvements in education, within the framework of international standards on emergency education.
- Strengthen the capacities of educational institutions in refugee camps as well as JRS teams for the implementation of a quality program.
- Plan and prepare the monthly activities to be carried out for effective support of school programs in the camps according to established projects.
- Build the capacity of teachers, monitoring agents, educational supervisors, objective coordinator.
- Ensure that the educational mechanism in place allows students to present under the JRS banner to the various exams has a high success rate ( Baccalaureate, BEF ).
- Implementation of an educational monitoring plan for the projects implemented.
- Provide technical support for the smooth running of the process of integrating refugee camp schools into the Chadian education system and qualifying training.
- Support for the work of Parents’ Associations; support and strengthen the community participation process. Regular coordination with the various actors of Education in Chad. Ensure the effective exchange of information, technical support and advocacy within the framework of humanitarian education action in Chad between JRS and the other actors.
- Participate in the identification of education needs in the camps and new opportunities.
- Propose or develop useful frameworks for the evaluation of indicators concerning the impact of our projects on the quality of education in the camps.
- Develop a monitoring plan evaluation by project and ensure its implementation in accordance with the project indicators.
- Capitalize the lessons of the various projects and advise on the corrective measures of the points of weaknesses identify.
Profile sought
Key skills :
- Have at least Bac + 4 in Educational Sciences.
- Proven work experience of at least 3 years for the same position in a humanitarian organization or having at least 5 years of experience in the field of education
- Experience working with refugees or forcibly displaced persons.
- Knowledge of the reality of life in refugee and displaced camps.
- Knowledge of the Chadian education system.
- Knowledge of the functioning of educational centers and teacher training.
- Knowledge of international standards on education in emergencies.
- Perfect mastery of French ( oral and written ).
- Knowledge of Arabic and English would be an asset.
- Attitude and professional behavior: dynamism, coordination capacity and teamwork, autonomy in the exercise of their functions, leadership, honesty, sense of organization.
- Mastering the IT tool, especially software: Word, Excel.
Languages :
- Master of French ( lu, written and spoken ) and good level in English ( lu, written and spoken ).
- Knowledge of the Arab, a local language and / or Spanish would be an asset.
Qualities :

- Team spirit, solid analytical mind, Meaning of discretion and responsibility ;
- Proven competence in project writing and lessor report.
- Good oral and written communication ( Active and Proactive ).
- Adaptability and working under pressure.
