ABOUT THE MISSION…

SI is present in North-East Nigeria since 2016 and is currently operating in 4 bases across Borno State (Maiduguri, Monguno, Ngala, Dikwa) with outreach capacities across all BAY States through its emergency component. Current coordination is based in Maiduguri while a representation office is set up in Abuja.

In 2020, SI opened a base in Zamfara State to start Emergency Response in North West where the security and humanitarian situation has been deteriorating in the past few years.

Security and humanitarian situation in both North East and North West as well as epidemic outbreaks continue to affect millions of live in those areas. SI is responding to the humanitarian needs of displaced populations and host communities through Wash, Shelter & NFI, FSL and Emergency activities. Through strategic partnership, SI also promotes integrated approach with health and protection sectors.

The annual budget of the mission is around 10 million euros in 2020 and the mission has potential for development in its current area of intervention as well as in the North Western part of Nigeria where limited actors are currently present.

The mission is fully staffed with 18 international and 200 national personals with a wide range of profiles. Position is currently based in Maiduguri but with a likely move of part of the coordination team, including the Meal Coordinator.

ABOUT THE JOB

• General objectives

The Grants and Partnership Coordinator plays a key role in developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategies for the country office. He or she guarantees a high level of interdepartmental coordination in the management of grants and provides strategic support to the country office on issues of donor relations, external representation, implementing partners’ management, external compliance, and donor accountability.

• Specific stakes and challenges

Donor relations: Contributes to the Country Office representation with donors through attendance in meetings, providing updates on the status of the project and communicates directly with donor focal points when required.

Funding strategy: Makes a strong contribution to the definition of the mission’s financial and partnership strategies; actively monitors and identifies funding opportunities.

Development of project documents (proposals, reports, requests for amendments): leads the coordination between Field Office/s, Technical Coordinator/s and support teams, and acts as a focal point for the planning, design and submission of concept notes and proposals.

Contract management: Ensures that the contractual terms proposed by the donor or Lead Recipient are realistic and applicable; provides strategic support to the desk and/or Country Director in the negotiation phase before signing grants; plans, prepares and leads all grants launching and closure meetings; follows-up on disbursement requests; facilitates the anticipation of any challenge/modification requests on all contractual obligations.

Partnership management: Identifies potential implementing partners, oversees due diligence exercises and develops partnership agreements.

External compliance and audits: Coordinates the response exercises to due diligence questionnaires required by Donors or Lead Partners; conducts trainings for staff on donor accountability tools and procedures; works closely with all relevant departments to proactively and regularly monitor program compliance with donor requirements; acts as the focal point for coordinating external audits.

External communication: Ensures that content (articles, photos) is regularly provided by the communication service and complies with contractual obligations; ensures the proofreading of articles.

Security context is challenging in both North East (Borno) and North West (Zamfara), Nigeria, justifying specific arrangements in terms of movements to the field.

• Line report(s): Reporting and Communication Officer.
• Functional manager: Donor Accountability & Development Officer (+ Direction of communication when relevant).

YOUR PROFILE

Qualifications :

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in Grants Management
• Experience developing project proposals in WaSH, FSL, Shelters, RRM sectors, with rigorous requirements and tight deadlines
• Fluent English (written, spoken and read) is mandatory
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational skills: fast learner, ability to multi-task as well as work independently and productively in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to effectively liaise with and motivate a variety of people in a multi-cultural environment
• Strong commitment to humanitarian work and principles
• Previous experience with SI is a plus

SI WILL OFFER YOU

Salaried position
Salary: According to experience, starting from EUR 2640 gross per month (EUR 2400 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly)

Monthly Per Diem: USD 600

SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of residence and the mission.

Break policy

• 1 break of 7 working days every 3 months
• 1 day off per worked month.

These days off, as well as the breaks, are not deducted from the paid leaves that are paid every months with your salary: they are offered by SI.

Social and medical cover:
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

Please note that this is an expatriate position.

Living conditions

The candidate will be accommodated in the guesthouse in Maiduguri. Towards the second half of the year, a partial move of the coordination towards Abuja is likely but conditional to the development of activities in North West

Covid19

Solidarités International recommends vaccination against Covid-19, using WHO approved vaccines. If possible, the vaccination should be done before departure in order to reduce the logistical constraints once on the ground.
