NURSE to work in INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN MISSIONS At Médecins Sans Frontières

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

Provide nursing care, treatment and monitoring of patients, according to the doctor’s prescriptions, the protocols applied in the service and the universal hygiene standards / precautions, in order to guarantee the quality and continuity of care for the target population.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Know, promote, implement and follow at all times universal standards / precautions for hygiene, prevention of biological hazards and infection control, safety rules and other protocols in medical facilities and ensure that high standards of hygiene are met in their environment of job
• Organize and apply care and treatment according to medical prescriptions, as well as provide assistance to doctors during consultations / daily rounds and other medical procedures
• Ensure that patients are received and installed appropriately in the health service Ensure that patients who lack autonomy have assistance, especially with regard to their diet, personal hygiene, movements and comfort
• Respect medical secrecy and confidentiality
• Carry out the admission, supervision and monitoring of patients, including the evolution of their state of health and the identification of emergency and deterioration situations.
• Participate in patient (and family) health education when needed
• Supervise and train nursing assistants, nutritional assistants, cleaners and other related personnel under their supervision in their work, focusing especially on following all appropriate protocols and procedures and ensuring teamwork
• Participate in the control and maintenance of drugs and medical equipment related to the department (carry out inventories, carry out stock controls of medicines and necessary materials at each change of equipment, ensure that materials are not taken from the area / nursing room without authorization , verifying their quality and operation, storage conditions, monitoring expired drugs, etc.)
• Carry out and supervise administrative procedures and documentation (complete patient files, forms, consumptions, statistics, etc.), guarantee that an appropriate written / verbal handover is carried out, and report all problematic situations and cases that may arise , complete all necessary health records and files, participate in data collection and keep doctors and supervisors informed
• For emergency room nurses and ambulatory care in waiting areas, wards or during emergencies, detect priority acute / emergency cases, apply first aid care when necessary and make referral to doctor
• If applicable, identify victims of sexual and gender-based violence and refer them to the medical team so that they can receive the necessary treatment
• Know and be familiar with the importance and proper use of the post-exposure prophylaxis kit (PPE)
  • Send materials to be sterilized and retrieve them from sterilization

PROFILE

Education and formation

• Essential, diploma and nursing card

Experience

Two years of previous experience

Desirable previous experience in NGOs

Languages

English as primary language (B1-B2 level)

Knowledge of French will be an asset

POSITION CONDITIONS

Work Venue: Where the needs of the project require it

Monthly remuneration: in the first 12 months, the bonus approximate gross monthly is USD $1,500. From the second year remuneration increases based on experience (previous and acquired) and the level of responsibility in the field. Private insurance coverage that includes medical coverage and hospital, temporary disability and life insurance. The organization also has an arranged medical evacuation if necessary. The expenses of stay in the land are covered: housing, basic services, cleaning and washing. Other expenses such as transportation, visas, transfer to the country of destination and Displacements in the field will also be covered by MSF. Per diem or monthly per diem: mainly to cover meals and small personal expenses.
