Doctors Without Borders Spain is present in Colombia and Panama implementing community and decentralized health programs and requires three nurses for its project in Arauca capital and rural areas.

General objective of the position:
Provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to the doctor’s prescriptions, the protocols applied in the service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to guarantee the quality and continuity of care of the target population.
Some of the main responsibilities:
- Know, promote, implement and follow at all times universal hygiene standards/precautions, biohazard prevention and infection control, safety rules and other protocols in medical facilities and ensure that high hygiene standards are met in their work environment.
- Organize and implement care and treatments as prescribed by physicians, as well as assist physicians during daily consultations/rounds and other medical procedures.
- Ensure that patients are received and accommodated appropriately in the health service. Ensure that patients who lack autonomy are supported, especially with regard to feeding, personal hygiene, movement and comfort.
- Respect medical confidentiality and secrecy
- Identify survivors of sexual violence and victims of OSV (Other Situations of Violence)
- Know and apply the MSF Sexual Violence Protocol for comprehensive care for survivors with the multidisciplinary team. Participate in the implementation of PrEP according to pre-established criteria.
- Maintain the necessary records for MSF and the Ministry of Health according to pre-established agreements and ensuring maximum confidentiality.
- Perform the tasks of managing the stock of the pharmacy’s last consumption units according to the MSF standard: recording temperature, placing orders, inventories, checking medicine cabinets, updating movements, participating in the analysis of the pharmacy, etc. In the absence of the Pharmacy Supervisor, perform the tasks of managing the stock of the central pharmacy of the project according to the request of the nursing activities manager.
Training:
- Recognized nursing degree/diploma.
Experience:
- Essential: Experience, training and competence for placement of subdermal implants and other contraceptive methods.
- Desirable: One year of previous experience in MSF or other humanitarian organizations.
Languages: Mastery of Spanish (oral and written) is essential. Knowledge of English, French or Portuguese is desirable.

Important: Due to access conditions and the intervention sites, team members are required to be available to travel immediately to any location in Colombia (*Also Panama), staying for several days in isolated, rural areas.
Physical and emotional fitness is required for possible adverse conditions in the context of the intervention, for travel on foot, by vehicle on uneven terrain, and travel by boat.
