Save the Children is an independent, non-profit international organization founded in 1919, working in more than 120 countries around the world. It has as its vision that of a world in which all children have the right to survival, protection, development and participation. Their work and decision-making are based on the mandate of the Best of the Child, in contexts of development and humanitarian aid.
In Peru, SC has been working since the 1980s with populations that have their rights violated. Its actions are carried out in the fields of Education, Health and Nutrition. Likewise, SC works in the field of Protection so that girls, boys and adolescents live in a society free of violence, abuse, and physical and humiliating punishment. Another important area of institutional intervention is Management for Disaster Risk Reduction with an inclusive and community-based approach. In the last three years SC intervenes to mitigate the negative effects of human mobility on the issue of Venezuelan migration.
Save the Children has the individual and collective responsibility to ensure that all children and adults are protected from deliberate or unintentional acts that lead to real risks or harm, with special attention to those who are part of our interventions. That is why it has Safeguard Policies, a code of conduct and safe programming tools to prevent risks and any damage that may be caused by its own staff, representatives, consultants, partners, volunteers, contractors or visitors to our beneficiaries of our programs.
For this reason, during the interviews, the candidates will be shared and evaluated in reading and understanding the policies contemplated in our safeguard framework, which are: Safeguarding children, Prevention against Exploitation; Sexual Abuse, Anti-Accommodation Policy, Intimidation and Bullying; and, Code of Conduct.
The objective of the position is to contribute to implementing the face-to-face activities of the Nutrition Sector around maternal and child feeding in emergency situations ( MIYCN-E ) with migrant and community families of reception, of the Cash Transfer Project of BHA in the designated region, in order to guarantee the expected results in the response to the migratory crisis of Venezuelans in Peru.
In case of an emergency situation, Job holder’s flexibility is expected to work outside of their usual job description and to be able to adapt to the tasks and schedules required as needed. Likewise, the position requires a total or majority daily displacement to the areas where the vulnerable populations benefiting from the Project are domiciled, so it is necessary to comply with protocols and any preventive measures provided by the organization.
Training and Knowledge:
- University professional in Health Sciences is required.
- Reside in the intervention region.
- Knowledge and experience in managing the MS Office program ( Excel, Word, PowerPoint ) and virtual work computing platforms, intermediate level.
- Knowledge in database management.
- Skills to analyze and synthesize information.
- Active listening skills and effective communication.
- Good level of organization and high ability to work as a team.
- High level of commitment to Save the Children values.
Experience and skills:
- Minimum experience of 2 years in social nutrition projects or in health establishments ( SERUMS ).
- Experience in projects of non-governmental organizations ( NGO ) with a territorial focus.
- Experience in emergency and / or food security projects ( desirable ).
- Basic level of English ( reading and writing ).
- Good text writing skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance in the implementation of the face-to-face activities of the work plan of the Nutrition Sector of the Region, scope of intervention of the project with a territorial focus.
- Coordinate with allies and representatives of public and private institutions related to Maternal and Child Feeding in emergency situations ( MIYCN-E ) within the Region.
- Assistance in promoting the participation of the host community organizations in Nutrition actions that take place within the Region.
- Assistance in monitoring articulated care cases derived by allies, and reporting on the timely care process of the corresponding health institutions, virtually and in person.
- Coordinate between internal sectors ( CASH, MERA, Supply chain ), assisting in a timely manner in the follow-up of derived cases and informing about the process of timely care to all involved.
- Responsible for the good weekly registration and systematization of the information of participants of the activities of the Nutrition sector that are carried out during the project in the region.
- Other tasks specific to your work and that are assigned by the organization.
