Officer, Driver At Evidence Action

The Driver will provide daily support to the Nigeria Country Office team. The role will require frequent movements within Abuja and its environs, might also embark on a few travels to other parts of the country. The position will require the movement of staff and, occasionally, the delivery of health commodities or parcels across the country.

The Driver shall be responsible for managing the vehicle, safely driving all Evidence Action staff, partners, and parcels/commodities in a manner acceptable to EA’s standards and policies, and assisting in the maintenance and repairs of the vehicle.

  • Monitor day to day maintenance checks including but not limited to oil, water, battery, breaks, and tires, etc.
  • Delivery and pickup of items, documentation ensuring accurate capture of what the item/documentation is, who requested the transport of the item, who received the item and obtaining proper signatures.
  • Maintain high standard of service to both internal and external official staff guests;
  • Work with the Associate Operations to Update vehicle documents when due
  • Actively communicate and systematically report any incident or accident, breakdown, that occurs on the vehicle to his/her supervisors; and verify that all vehicle administrative documents are in place and updated (insurance, vehicle registration).
  • Plan for timely vehicle service with approvals from the country’s Associate Manager.
  • Conducts various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair and replacement.
  • Ensure that all passengers on board the vehicle comply with safety measures or regulations & are EA staff or partners only.
  • Ensure allocated vehicle has valid documents and in conformity with traffic rules and safety regulations of Nigeria.
  • Fill the Logbook after each trip with the correct information in accordance with the procedures and be able to explain all the movements mentioned when needed.
  • Keep records in vehicle log book and submit to Associate, Operations on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Enter the logbook after each refueling and keep receipts of payment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Associate, Operations

Requirements

▪ Minimum S.S.C.E

▪ A minimum of 2 years of experience preferably in International Non-Governmental Organizations or corporate companies.

▪ Good language skills in English with strong reading and writing skills.

▪ Mastery of Nigerian traffic laws and experience of roads within Nigeria

▪ Valid driving license with no history of traffic violations.

▪ Proficiency in speaking English Knowledge of the preparation of routes, general mapping, able to make quickly route inquiries and analysis, the identification of places of refuge and emergency resources, “points of high traffic”, “danger zones”;

▪ Able to work in stressful situations / physical and mental strength

▪ Must be flexible and have well developed interpersonal skills.

▪ Basic computer skills desired (Basic MS Office, Internet, email)

▪ Good written and verbal communication skills

▪ Experience in driving Four-Wheel vehicles (4WD) on all-weather roads

▪ Punctual to work and keeping time.
