1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Under the direct supervision of the Nurse and overall supervision of Project Officer in Emergency and Post-Crisis Unit, the Nurse will be responsible for implementation of medical service support to vulnerable migrants temporarily detained and stranded in Thailand.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- In coordination with the Project Staff, provide regular medical assistance to vulnerable migrants temporarily detained in Immigration Detention Centers, Shelters for Children and Families, Welfare Protection Centers for Victims of Trafficking, and other ad hoc locations in Thailand;
- In coordination with the Project Staff, governmental medical personnel and local hospital representatives, ensure that the referral and treatment of urgent medical cases are addressed;
- Keep track of all relevant health data in IOM standard forms and/or database and ensure the continued diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of urgent medical cases in coordination with the Project Staff;
- Provide technical advice to the Project Staff and recommendations on the implementation of medical care support to project’s beneficiaries in accordance to IOM guidelines;
- Provide medical reports and result of services provided to the beneficiaries, including medical needs assessment and pre/post- evaluation; and
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Thai national;
- University degree of nursing
Experience:
- At least 3 years of clinical experience; sound technical skills. Work in an English-speaking environment with clients from varied cultures is an advantage. Knowledge of communicable diseases, especially tuberculosis, is an advantage.
- Experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization with a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills:
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.
- Through understanding of concepts of client-friendly services, confidentiality and good bedside manner.
- Computer/software literate, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, E-mail and Internet)
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Thai is required.
