Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened; mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or even exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.
As part of a specific position opening in the field, we are looking for a:
DOCTOR ONCOLOGIST M/F
Main goal: Participate in the management of specific medical care (curative and/or palliative) of patients with cancer on an outpatient and hospitalization basis in accordance with appropriate and up-to-date medical knowledge, protocols, values and universal criteria of international hygiene in order to improve the health status of patients and beneficiaries.
Assignment
- In collaboration with the hospital’s Oncologists, shares and applies its knowledge and medical skills to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients with cancer;
- Participates in the implementation of an adapted and clear protocol for the management of patients undergoing chemotherapy by defining the chemotherapy treatment threshold
- Ensures compliance and application of these protocols in order to improve the quality of care and reduce biological risks;
- Participates in updating the support criteria for the project and compliance with its criteria
- Participates in medical meetings and multidisciplinary consultation meetings (RCP)
- Participates in outpatient and inpatient oncological care for patients with breast and cervical cancer. If necessary, prescribe the necessary treatments, in accordance with MOH/MSF protocols
- Participates in the proper coordination of care in the department and on an outpatient basis;
- Ensure that patient files are complete and that medical recommendations are clearly notified to nursing staff;
- If necessary, provides consultations and specific or palliative medical care to patients with cancer;
- Work in close collaboration with all stakeholders and services involved in cancer care: imaging, biology, anatomical pathology, surgery, gynecology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, psychology….
- Participates in capacity building for Onco project agents on the management of breast and cervical cancer cases
- Supports the nursing team in the administration of cytotoxic drugs according to MSF standards
- Ensures the rational prescription of narcotics and cytotoxics
- Trains and supports palliative care teams in the care of palliative patients
- Regularly informs patients and their families of the illness and the treatment to be followed and verifies that the explanations have been understood. Ensures respect for patient autonomy and confidentiality of information; at the patient’s bedside, he adopts the appropriate attitude towards the patient, the caregivers and the rest of the medical team;
- Ensures that professional secrecy is respected and in practice at all levels;
- Support the team in updating data and defining key indicators
- Participates in the development of various project reports (monthly report, capitalization report, etc.), tools and all other supports necessary for the proper functioning of the project;
- Contributes to data analysis and strategic proposals of the project
- Participates in the preparation of the international pharmacy order (cytotoxic, narcotics, etc.)
- Reports to referring doctors the difficulties encountered
Professional skills
Education
- Medical degree from a recognized university
- Specialization in Oncology
Experience
- A minimum of one year of experience as a doctor in an oncology department
- Experience in supportive and palliative care

Job specifics
Full support by MSF:
Transport and accommodation + monthly land per diem for current expenses (food and others). Retirement contribution. Complete medical care: mutual insurance / vaccines / evacuation if necessary. Insurance.

Duration: mission of 8 months minimum.
Salary based on MSF remuneration policy.
