BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
In Western Africa, WFP, through the Regional Bureau (RBD), works with governments in the region, the humanitarian community, other UN Agencies, international finance institutions, academia, cooperating partners, and civil society groups to maximise an efficient response to food insecurity, nutrition challenges, and humanitarian crises in the face of dire effects of climate change and conflict. Despite the region’s resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of increased conflict, climate-related shocks, the global food crisis, and the Ukraine crisis deterred many gains made and required huge emergency responses. WFP provides life-changing and lifesaving support specific to each Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and aligned with country-specific priorities linked to selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development frameworks. WFP’s operations cover areas on emergency preparedness and response, food systems, social protection, nutrition, and school feeding.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Head of Operational Information Management, the OIM Consultant will support the Regional Bureau for Western Africa Annual Country Report (ACR) exercise, contribute to the overall reporting products and provide support as required. This will include close coordination within programme and other technical units at RBD level, support and follow up with COs, ensuring quality control and liaising with technical experts in headquarters, to ensure that all relevant projects are adequately reported and published online for donors and internal use.
ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSABILITIES
- Support Country Offices during the Annual Reporting period, in coordination with the regional ACR task force. This includes communicating all processes and associated documentation with CO ACR focal points; address specific requirements for different ACR sections; provide guidance and suggestions, and technical support on questions on ACR drafting and data requirements.
- Liaise with technical units in HQ and RBs and ACR team as needed in providing specific guidance to Country Offices and ensure quality of ACRs and other reporting products as required, support the training for Reports Officers; coordinate reviews with technical teams in RB and support RB/CO and ensure the ACR Calendar is strictly followed by following up with both CO and RB technical unit review focal persons.
- Support the regional lessons learned and regional booklet exercise in a consultative way with different stakeholders.
- Provide remote and/or on site analytical and technical support to Country Offices in streamlining reporting and analysis tasks.
- Any other reporting tasks as required and/or assigned.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Publication of ACR facilitated in line with the corporate deadline.
- Layout of ACR in line with corporate standard.
- Continuous analytical and technical support to the Reporting Unit.
- Analytical and technical support to Country Offices.
- Take stock of and develop innovative solutions to improve WFPs Information Management Products and Processes further.
Education:
You have
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree equivalent, BAC+4/5), recognized by https://www.whed.net/home.php in political science, sociology, economics, business management, operations management, development studies, and international development. or other relevant field, OR a first university degree (Bachelor’s degree equivalent, BAC +3) in the same disciplines with additional years of experience.
Experience:
You have:
At least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional post graduate experience working in in data analysis, monitoring and reporting. Minimum one years’ experience coordinating and drafting reporting products, preferably ACR, at CO/Regional level.
Desirable experiences
- Excellent understanding of development and humanitarian sectors, strong portfolio of contribution to successful partnership initiatives, and engagement with the public and private sector.
Languages:
Fluency (level C in reading, writing and speaking) in English and intermediate French (level B).

The incumbent should have the following skills and experience:
- Familiarity with WFP’s framework for results reporting.
- Excellent communication skills (oral/written) to provide clear guidance, support and feedback to all stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with a demonstrated ability to research, draft and clear concise information products or analyses.
- Excellent knowledge of humanitarian operations, methods and systems.
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritise multiple requests in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong coordination and collaboration skills and the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
- Computer skills (office software package), including word processing, spreadsheets, data capture systems.
