SoCha (a portmanteau of Social and Change) is an independent Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) firm that provides bespoke solutions to social challenges. We are a US-registered, veteran-owned small business and staff support offices in Nairobi, Bangkok and Mauritius. SoCha currently supports multiple foreign assistance interventions across Asia and Africa.
To strengthen Operations and Project Management support for SoCha corporate on existing and future projects.
Scope of Work:
The Operations Specialist reports to the Director of Finance and Administration and will support operations for both corporate and project functions, as well as providing Project Management support.
Human Resources:
· Provides surge support to Corporate and Project HR Specialists/Manager for project start up and close out.
Operations and Procurement support:
· Provide Logistical and Travel support for SoCha employees with support from home office employees.
· Support the development and review of SoCha policies and procedures for procurement, HR, Finance and admin for SoCha HQ and projects with inputs from other SoCha departments.
· Support operational and programmatic procurements.
Project Start up and Close Out
· Provide operational start up and close out support for SoCha projects.
· International travel to projects to provide in person support.
· Support new Project staff to understand SoCha Policies and procedures and align project documentation to Donor, Local Law and SoCha requirements
Project Management
· Provide ongoing program management support on projects.
· Fill the program manager function on projects for billable time when necessary.
Other duties as appropriate.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or similar fields.
· 3+ years demonstrable experience in Operations and/or Project Management working on USAID Projects or USAID implementing partner Head Quarters.
· Demonstrate procurement experience on USAID Projects.
· Demonstrate good understanding of USAID rules and regulations.
· The Operations Specialist can work remotely but at least 4 hours overlap a day with Eastern Africa working hours.
· Strong communication skills, both written and spoken in English.
· Demonstrated knowledge of USAID procurement rules and regulations.
· Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
· Proven capacity to take initiative and willingness to learn new skills as needed.
· Strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
· Experience in negotiating vendor contracts (including price levels, terms of delivery, etc.)
Location:
Remote work. Four hours of the workday must be aligned with one of the African time zones (East or Central Africa).
